Star Wars’ Original Trilogy established that Darth Sidious’ favorite weapon was Force lighting, but the prequels displayed his proficiency with a lightsaber. In fact, Sidious wasn’t just proficient — he was a master of all seven forms and proved his prowess when Master Windu led a foursome of Jedi Masters into his Senate office. With hate in his eyes, he summoned a crimson lightsaber to his grasp and dispatched Kit Fisto, Saesee Tinn and Agen Kolar in mere seconds.
Then, Sidious and Windu battled for the future of the Republic and the fate of the Chosen One. But as Anakin entered Palpatine’s office, Windu had the upper hand and was preparing to kill the old politician. That made Anakin ignite his lightsaber, remove Master Windu’s arm and save Palpatine’s life.
Cutting off Windu’s arm was Anakin’s first time attacking a Jedi. But while it was the action that cemented his fall to the Dark Side, it was actually Palpatine who threw Windu from the window and killed him. Palpatine then dubbed Anakin as Darth Vader, commenced Order 66 and made immediate arrangements for the newly-christened Sith to baptize himself in blood. And it wasn’t long after that that Darth Vader followed in his master’s footsteps with his very own Jedi murder.
At that point, Anakin had no choice. Sidious commanded him to lead the 501st against the Jedi Temple, so that’s exactly what he did. He destroyed his previous life and killed countless Jedi as he fell further and further into darkness. But while his most infamous kill was Master Shaak Ti, and his most impressive one was Cin Drallig, it was another Jedi who had the distinction of being Vader’s first.
Revenge of the Sith didn’t show much of the fateful assault on the Temple, and that’s unfortunate because Vader would have been at the ultimate peak of his power. However, the movie’s novelization added a scene right when Anakin arrived at the Jedi Temple, and that’s when he murdered his first Jedi: Gate Master Jurokk, who — along with Shaak Ti — was in charge of the Temple defenses when Master Windu went to arrest Palpatine. Upon feeling a disturbance in the Force, Master Ti went to meditate while Jurokk kept watch, but, while waiting, Anakin punched the code into the keypad, and the doors began to open. Of course, being in charge of defense, Jurokk went out to meet him, but that was a mistake.
Jurokk noticed the thousands of Clone Troopers behind Anakin, and while he was distracted, the Sith Lord raised his lightsaber to his chin and flicked the activation switch, giving the man formerly known as Anakin Skywalker his first Jedi kill. Jurokk didn’t even have the chance to fight back or sound an alarm as Anakin and the 501st walked in unannounced and unabated. Of course, that night would only be the beginning of Anakin’s rampage, as he would go on to kill countless more Jedi before his time as a Sith ended.
