Thor 4 Toys Leak Changes for Valkyrie, Jane, Guardians of the Galaxy

This article may include major spoilers for Thor: Love and Thunder, coming to theaters July 8.

Leaked photos of Hasbro’s Marvel Legend action figures for the upcoming Thor: Love and Thunder have surfaced, showing a change of status for characters like Thor, Valkyrie, Jane Foster and some of the Guardians of the Galaxy.

The images, posted on Instagram by user Todd Ortiz, feature seven different toys depicting varied Marvel Cinematic Universe characters with new outfits and accessories. Chris Hemsworth’s Thor, a founding Avenger and the main character of the first three Thor films, has two figures, one which is labeled “Ravager Thor” and one with a more classic look called simply “Thor.” As it was already revealed that Tessa Thompson’s Valkyrie would be crowned the King of Asgard in Love and Thunder, it’s appropriate that her action figure is called “King Valkyrie.”

Some of the characters, however, bring surprises with their leaked images. Christian Bale’s Gorr the God Butcher, the film’s villain, includes a weapon which bears a resemblance to his powerful All-Black from Marvel Comics. Jane Foster, played by Natalie Portman, doesn’t have a name on her figure’s packaging except for “Mighty Thor,” suggesting that when she picks up Mjolnir she’ll leave behind her old name.

Several of the toys include pieces which seem to belong to the alien rock monster Korg, a fan favorite voiced by the film’s director Taika Waititi himself, possibly giving customers a chance to build a bonus figure out of them.

The inclusion of two characters from the Guardians of the Galaxy series tracks with what’s already known about Love and Thunder, which picks up after Avengers: Endgame, in which Thor left Earth with the spacefaring team of misfits. The Groot and Star-Lord figures don’t appear to show much change since the characters’ last on-screen appearance, although it’s hard to tell whether the young tree creature Groot has grown.

The Ravagers are also an aspect of the MCU associated with the Guardians of the Galaxy. Peter Quill, a.k.a. Star-Lord, was raised by Ravagers and began his arc affilliated with them under the guidance of his father-figure Yondu. Ravagers have been both allies and enemies in the Guardians movies, so Thor’s apparent allegience with them in Love and Thunder still leaves a lot of questions.

While Thor: Love and Thunder is only months from its theatrical premiere, Marvel Studios has yet to drop a trailer for the film. Some fans have expressed concerns over the lack of marketing, but a new theory speculates that the trailer is not far off: A photo from Love and Thunder‘s press tour was recently noted as a possible hint for when audiences can expect to get their first good look at the fourth Thor movie. The image features Hemsworth and Thompson sitting alongside director Taika Waititi, and all three are holding up their hands in different positions. Some fans have taken this to mean that a trailer will finally arrive on April 11.
