Kirby ends his journey through the Wondaria amusement park with a showdown against the leopard Clawroline, who is the third boss in Kirby and the Forgotten Land. She is a member of the Beast Pack, the group that captured the numerous Waddle Dees that Kirby and Elfilin must rescue throughout the game. The fight against Clawroline may prove challenging, but there are some strategies players can employ to beat her.
Players can choose between three copy abilities in this level to fight with: Ranger, Sword, and Bomb. If players want the extra firepower, they can evolve these copy abilities prior to facing Clawroline. Two of these three blueprints are found in the Everbay Coast. The Noble Ranger blueprint can be found by defeating the Tropical Terror, and the Chain Bomb blueprint is found in the Fast-Flowing Waterworks. The Gigant Sword blueprint is found in Wondaria Remains, and it is by far the most useful for this fight.
Breaking Down The Fight Against Clawroline
As one may guess by her name, Clawroline’s main choice of weapon are her claws. She will swipe at Kirby once with one set, then once with the other, sometimes finishing the combo with a double swipe. She likes to jump around a lot, and after she launches herself into the air, she will crash down with such force that she sends out a shockwave and gets her claws stuck in the ground. Both of these attacks come during the first stage of the battle, along with one more devastating blow that sees the spotlight fall on Kirby prior to Clawroline charging at him.
Once Clawroline is at half-health, the fight’s second stage begins. Clawroline will jump to one of the support towers, out of reach from most attacks, and will throw knives in quick succession at Kirby. She repeats this attack numerous times before pouncing back to the center ring with an increased agility.
Strategies For Defeating Clawroline
Players can maintain enough distance between Kirby and Clawroline to avoid her claw attacks simply by continuously running. When her claws get stuck in the ground, Kirby needs to jump over the shockwave and can simply hover in the air to avoid her charge attack. When Clawroline throws knives, however, players will want to run in a horizontal fashion, otherwise the knives will easily hit Kirby and force him to lose his current copy ability.
If players did not choose the Sword ability before the fight, Kirby can inhale one of the knives Clawroline throws to equip Sword Kirby. The best ability for this fight is easily the Gigant Sword, the second evolution of the Sword ability, as it also comes with a spiked shield that can protect Kirby from anything Clawroline might try. Alternatively, players can use the Ranger ability to shoot Clawroline off the support pillar, thereby cutting off her attack early. If players lose their equipped ability, Kirby can deal reasonable damage using normal attacks as well.
