EXCLUSIVE: Marvel’s Anti-Fascist Spider-Punk & Captain Anarchy Take on a Nazified Kraven the Hunter

Marvel Comics provided CBR with an exclusive preview of Spider-Punk #1, by writer Cody Ziglar, artist Justin Mason, colorist Jim Charalampidis and letterer VC’s Travis Lanham. In the preview, Hobie Brown/Spider-Punk and Karl Morningdew/Captain Anarchy take on a Nazified version of Kraven the Hunter.

The first issue in a new five-part miniseries, Spider-Punk opens with Spider-Punk and Captain Anarchy taking on a group of well-armed Nazis led by an alternate version of Kraven the Hunter. Together, Spider-Punk and Captain Anarchy succeed in their fight against Kraven and his men, but a sniper shot keeps them from being able to finish the villain off.

Future solicitations don’t tease much about what will happen in Spider-Punk. However, the plot summary for Spider-Punk #2, which releases in May, teases a confrontation between the titular hero and Taskmaster. There also seem to be some secrets beneath Spider-Punk’s headquarters that may link back to Osborn. June’s Spider-Punk #3 will then see Brown and his team helping out Daredevil and taking on Kingpin.

Created by Dan Slott and Olivier Coipel, Spider-Punk first appeared in 2014’s Amazing Spider-Man #10, which was part of the “Spider-Verse” storyline. Brown hails from Earth-138, which is a world in which classic Spider-Man villain Norman Osborn bonded with the Venom symbiote and became President of the United States of America. Spider-Punk gained his powers after being bitten by an irradiated spider from an illegal waste dump. Since his introduction, Spider-Punk has appeared in two mobile games — 2014’s Spider-Man Unlimited and 2018’s Marvel Strike Force — and as a costume in Marvel’s Spider-Man, which released in 2018.
