REPORT: She-Hulk May Be in Creative Trouble | CBR

Marvel Studios’ upcoming She-Hulk series could be in trouble, according to a new report.

In a recent appearance on The Hot Mic With Jeff and John transcribed by The Direct, industry insider Jeff Sneider spoke about alleged problems the series has run into. “I’ve heard not good things behind-the-scenes… and I’ve asked whether it’s Moon Knight or Ms. Marvel or Secret Invasion or any of these [projects], they are always like, ‘She-Hulk is the one that could be a problem,'” Sneider said.

Sneider went on to clarify that the rumors could be false and that nobody will truly know until the series is released. “I’ve heard it from people working on it, from people actually working on it who are just like, ‘We’ll see.'” Sneider said. “I think that’s a lot of Marvel things, honestly, and you know where it’s just like, ‘Ugh, this could be really stupid, like we’ll see.’ I’m sure people making Guardians of the Galaxy felt that way, right? And most of the time [Marvel] pulls it out. But there will come a time where they won’t, that’s just the laws of moviemaking, the laws of numbers.”

The series will star Tatiana Maslany as Jennifer Walters, the titular She-Hulk, a lawyer who receives a blood transfusion from her cousin Bruce Banner and becomes a milder version of the Hulk. The series will also see Mark Ruffalo once again reprise his role as Banner/Hulk and Tim Roth return as Abomination, who hadn’t been seen in the Marvel Cinematic Universe since 2008’s The Incredible Hulk before his Shang Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings cameo last year. Rumors also suggest that Daredevil will be making an appearance, portrayed again by Daredevil and Spider-Man: No Way Home actor Charlie Cox.

No solid plot details have been released for the show aside from brief glimpses and merchandise listings, but the series’ official Disney+ page reads, “She-Hulk, a new comedy series coming to Disney+, stars Tatiana Maslany as She-Hulk/Jennifer Walters, a lawyer who specializes in superhuman-oriented legal cases.”

She-Hulk is being helmed by Rick and Morty writer Jessica Gao and will be co-directed by Anu Valia and Marry Me director Kat Coiro. Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige has previously described the show as a “half-hour legal comedy” and stated that the story stays true to writer-artist John Byrne’s original comics starring the character. It’s expected to be the third of four new MCU TV shows releasing in 2022, coming after Moon Knight and Ms. Marvel, but before Secret Invasion.

While no official trailer has been released, fans got their first glimpse of the character in a teaser from 2021’s Disney+ Day event. She-Hulk is expected to release in 2022.
