The Wheel of Time Season 2 Wraps Filming in Prague | CBR

A new report claims that Season 2 of Amazon Prime Video’s epic fantasy series The Wheel of Time recently wrapped filming.

Principal photography for the show’s second season was completed in Prague, the Czech Republic in mid-March, according to information obtained by Midgard Times. The report also revealed that The Wheel of Time‘s second unit shot additional footage for Season 2 in Morocco around this time but sources close to the production could not confirm whether this filming had also concluded.

The Wheel of Time Season 2 is set to debut several new characters pulled from the original novels by Robert Jordan (and later, Brandon Sanderson). This includes Elyas Machera, a one-time Warder who possesses the same ability to communicate with wolves as key supporting player Perrin Aybara. English actor Gary Beadle recently updated his resume to list Elyas among his screen credits, confirming the wolfbrother’s appearance in the upcoming season.

The second batch of Wheel of Time episodes will also introduce several locations that viewers familiar with Jordan and Sanderson’s novels will recognize. The most notable of these is the Royal Palace of Andor, home to several prominent characters from the source material, including Elayne and Gawyn Trakand. Prague’s Ploskovice Castle reportedly stood in for Andor’s most prominent landmark, which was omitted from Season 1 along with the rest of the region’s capital, Caemlyn.

Actor Daniel Henney, who plays Lan Mandragoran in the series, also promised that The Wheel of Time Season 2 will be an even more visceral experience than Season 1. “It’s really hard for me to not give too much away, but I will say this: two swords, multiple Fades, blood… lots of blood,” Henney said. The second season will also apparently involve even more sophisticated visual effects sequences if a behind-the-scenes video shared by star Jennifer Cheon Garcia is anything to go by.

As  Season 2 edges closer to completion, fans are already turning their attention to The Wheel of Time Season 3. While news that the Prime Video series had been renewed for a third season broke in early February, these reports turned out to be premature. To date, The Wheel of Time Season 3 has yet to officially receive the green light.

The Wheel of Time Season 1 is currently streaming on Prime Video. Season 2 does not have a release date.
