Ghostwire: Tokyo – How Long to Beat & Complete the Game | CBR

Ghostwire: Tokyo is the latest title from Tango Gameworks. The game follows Akito, who gets possessed by a spirit named KK in the aftermath of a major paranormal attack on Tokyo. Merging with KK gives Akito the ability to use a form of magic known as Ethereal Weaving, and using that power, they confront the person responsible for the attack, a mysterious man wearing a Hannya mask.

Overall, Ghostwire isn’t a particularly long game, but there’s a lot for players to do thanks to an abundance of side-quests and collectibles. Here’s how long Ghostwire Tokyo takes to beat for those who just want to beat the game and those who want to do everything there is to do.

How Long Does Ghostwire: Tokyo’s Main Story Take?

Prior to the release of Ghostwire, the game’s director, Kenji Kimura, estimated it would take about 15 to 20 hours to complete the main story. Overall, that estimate holds true. The majority of players should be able to beat Ghostwire‘s six chapters in around 15 hours. 20 hours seems more like an estimate designed for those who are taking the game slow and finishing off a lot of the game’s extra content. In contrast, those who are trying to finish the game quickly could probably get to the credits in approximately 10 hours without too much issue.

How Long Does It Take to Fully Complete Ghostwire: Tokyo?

Due to the sheer number of collectibles, fully completing Ghostwire will take between 25 and 40 hours for most gamers, depending on how much a given player uses guides and just how lucky they are. There are also no difficulty-based trophies or need to complete the game more than once, which makes life easier, as players can do everything on a single save file. Many trophies will get unlocked through the course of normal gameplay, and a fair number of Ghostwire‘s trophies relate to combat and killing Visitors in various ways. Those aiming to get a platinum should definitely check Ghostwire‘s trophy list to see what they need to check off.

Completing all of the title’s available side-quests is essential to 100 percenting the game. In general, side-quests are short, so they really won’t have a major effect on time with one exception: Tanuki hunting. To complete all of Ghostwire‘s side-quests, players will have to find 25 tanuki hidden across the city. These tanuki are also tied into a number of other collectibles players will need to get for completion.

The biggest time sink in terms of collectibles is getting all of the spirits in Tokyo, of which there are 240,300. This will take a long time, as each cluster only really holds between 100 and 500 spirits, and players need to transmit them out of Tokyo via payphone. Gamers can save some time here by getting the Transmission Beads by completing the game’s main story first, which save them the journey to payphones. The Spirit Perception Beads from the Hitani Shrine and Saihama Building Rooftop Torii Gate also help with this, as they lead the player to the closest cluster of spirits.

Outside of getting all of Ghostwire‘s spirits, players will also need to find every relic, voice log, magatama, type of food and drink, music track, outfit, prayer bead and talisman. Additionally, players will have to find and pray to every Jizo statue. Finding all of those things can take quite some time.

Ghostwire: Tokyo releases on for March 25 for PlayStation 5 and PC. Those who preorder the digital deluxe edition can start playing now.
