With Spider-Man: No Way Home nearing its home release date, scenes and bonus features are starting to circulate across the Internet. Fans were recently given a glimpse at one of those features– a deleted scene from the massively successful film, showcasing one uniquely awkward elevator ride.
A deleted scene shows a disarmed Doc Ock riding the elevator to the Stark safehouse with fellow supervillains Electro, Green Goblin and Sandman, while Spider-Man and Aunt May sit shocked and silent in the background. Of course, no awkward elevator ride would be complete without some variant of Muzak.
The deleted scene was not the only bit of extra content from the Spider-Man: No Way Home home media release. Four behind-the-scenes images recently surfaced, featuring Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield in costume as Peter Parker/Spider-Man, on the set of the film’s climactic Statue of Liberty battle. The photos hint at a different sequence of events as one of the Spider-Man characters can be seen riding Green Goblin’s glider– a scene that ultimately did not make it into the theatrical release.
In addition, stills from several deleted scenes have also been shared by Sony, with each one featuring at least one of the three Spider-Man characters in costume. One of the images even got fans discussing some of the major differences between Maguire’s No Way Home suit and the original costume from Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man trilogy.
The 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray release of No Way Home will include over 80 minutes of bloopers, behind-the-scenes content and featurettes, showcasing the process behind one of Marvel Studios’ most biggest films. The announcement of the home media content arrived with a special photo of the film’s three Spideys, played by Tom Holland, Andrew Garfield and Tobey Maguire, recreating an iconic meme.
Spider-Man: No Way Home follows the immediate aftermath of Spider-Man: Far From Home, which ended with Mysterio revealing Spider-Man’s secret identity to the world. When the consequences of the revelation begin to impact Peter’s closest friends and family, he turns to Doctor Strange for help. While Strange attempts to cast a spell wiping Spider-Man’s identity from memory, Peter alters the spells unintentionally, causing tears in reality itself and allowing the multiverse to pour through. It’s up to Spider-Man, Ned and MJ to ensure the likes of Doc Ock, Electro, Sandman, Green Goblin and Lizard aren’t allowed to run amok in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Spider-Man: No Way Home is in theaters now. The film arrives on Digital March 22 and on 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray and DVD April 12.
