Oscar Isaac Describes Marvel’s Moon Knight as His Baby | CBR

Moon Knight star Oscar Isaac gave an interesting description of the upcoming Disney+/Marvel Studios series.

“I’m so excited, it’s – it’s turned out to be like my baby,” Isaac told Extra at the 2022 Screen Actors Guild Awards. “I put everything into it. I hope it blows people’s minds as much as I think it will.”

Ironically, while Isaac may be excited for the release of Moon Knight, the actor, who collected comics in his youth, recently revealed that he had not heard of the Marvel superhero before he was cast on the series/ Speaking to Morbius star Jared Leto for Variety‘s Actors on Actors, Issac said, “I’d heard of Morbius, but I’d never heard of Moon Knight.”

Isaac also stated that he was unsure if he would ever play the character in the Marvel Cinematic Universe again, as a second season of Moon Knight is reliant on the reception of its first season. “It depends on whether people see the freakin’ show first. If they see it, then maybe we’ll see more Moon Knight,” he said. “But I love playing him. Particularly [Steven Grant, one of Moon Knight’s personalities]. I hope I get to visit him again. I love him so much. I feel he’s someone real, who lives in the world. It’s been a long time since I felt that kind of connection.”

Additionally, Marvel Studios President/Chief Creative Officer Kevin Feige brought up how violent Moon Knight is going to be, saying there are “moments [in the series] when Moon Knight is wailing on another character, and it is loud and brutal, and the knee-jerk reaction is, ‘We’re gonna pull back on this, right?'”

New information regarding the plot of Moon Knight was also recently revealed, teasing Isaac’s main character, Steven Grant, who “suffers from dissociative identity disorder,” which he “discovers after having flashes from another life” and leads to the manifestation of “the mercenary Marc Spector.” An earlier Moon Knight plot synopsis also stated that Grant and Spector “must navigate their complex identities while thrust into a deadly mystery among the powerful gods of Egypt” during the same time their adversaries “converge upon them.”
