With the release of GTA V in 2013, GTA Online was simultaneously available to players. The separate gaming experience takes place in the same fictional world of Los Santos and features additional missions, heists, and vehicles. With the new-gen consoles now more than a year old, gamers are expecting the next GTA title to have faster loading times, improved graphics, and an enhanced online experience.
A recent Tweet from Rockstar confirms that the next entry in the series is in development. Their public announcement also states, “With every new project, our goal is to significantly move beyond what we’ve previously delivered.” Not only are fans ecstatic to hear the confirmation, but they’re also expecting the next online title to be an improvement on the last and include some exciting new features.
10 Character Customization And Heritage Could Go A Step Further
Customizing your character’s physical appearance in GTA Online is a unique feature that was not included in previous GTA titles. Players begin by choosing their character’s heritage, including grandparents and resemblance to parents, before deciding on the main features. Heritage options include familiar faces such as Niko, Claude, and John Marston from the Red Dead Redemption franchise.
The Sims-influenced creation system could go a step further in the next release and incorporate inherited traits or family bonuses. These could include police leniency due to a parent being in the force, or discounted weapons because a dangerous relative is a regular customer. These parental backstories could even be referenced in the next entry’s single-player mode.
9 Territory Wars Should Be A Part Of The Online Experience
Gamers were first introduced to turf wars in GTA: San Andreas, where players would invade rival gang territories and try to occupy all of the neighborhoods in Los Santos. Although NPC gangs exist in GTA Online, they usually only attack if a player has caused them harm or refuses to leave after being threatened. If these clusters of NPCs had a purpose, like defending their turf or avenging comrades, territory wars could become more prominent.
Even though GTA Online has crews and organizations, mixing players with in-game gangs could initiate a series of unique missions. Players could fight alongside NPCs in side missions and join the same gang as their friends to strategically plan territorial takeovers or hideout attacks.
8 Customizing The Home Is Something GTA Fans Have Dreamed Of
Owning a home in GTA Online is practically essential. Having a safe zone to take a break is handy, and somewhere to store all of a player’s vehicles is crucial. But beyond choosing a home they like the look of, there isn’t much freedom when it comes to changing aspects of their virtual abode.
The option for players to redecorate their homes is one many GTA fans have dreamed of. Buying additional appliances, painting the walls, or upgrading furniture are things that would add a new exciting dynamic to the online aspect. With some remote properties, there could even be the option to expand GTA homes and add to the overall size and property value.
7 The GTA Property Ladder Is An Exciting Concept
Unlike cars, once a property has been purchased in GTA Online, it cannot be sold – only traded-in. If this feature was enabled, gamers could put their profit towards a new wardrobe, another vehicle, or a better residence. After a few home improvements, players could also make money on the GTA property ladder by selling refurbished houses.
Making virtual cash can sometimes be repetitive and time-consuming, so giving players more earning options would be a step in the right direction. By selling their home to The Bank of Liberty or negotiating with online players in their session, gamers will have another means of generating income.
6 Modified Melee Weapons Would Lead To Some Hilarious Game Modes
In Ammu-Nation, players can stock up on rounds and kit out their firearms with flashlights, suppressors, and scopes. However, apart from choosing a tint and performance-enhancing rounds, this is really where the level of weapon modification ends. With this in mind, at the risk of going over the top with gun mods, Rockstar could explore customized melee weapons further.
If workbenches were incorporated, gamers could modify melee weapons with items they find or earn on their travels. Players can already enter various shops in GTA Online, and if they were able to purchase inventory items such as barbed wire or nails, this would open up a world of in-game melee modifications that would also encourage some hilarious game modes.
5 Different Currencies Will Add A New Layer To The Game
If the next title is set in the US, the currency will be dollars, and if Vice City is the epicenter, there is the possibility that the map could extend into Mexico and include Pesos. Cryptocurrency could also be introduced to the online world for money laundering assignments or to buy specific items on the black market.
During online missions, players could be rewarded with a Bitcoin equivalent or have the option to choose which currency they’d like to receive payment. If the stock market remains, players should also be able to trade currencies. When certain events take place in a gaming session, such as a recent bank robbery, seeing the stock market change accordingly online would make in-game trading more realistic.
4 An Airport To Travel To Different Maps
A functioning airport where players can quickly fly across the map without hijacking the aircraft could be an essential feature. Rockstar’s next entry is likely to have yet a bigger map than its predecessors, which may even expand over time. Taking an AI-controlled flight to other areas could also be the only means of traveling to certain locations.
Instead of sitting through the journey, like in a taxi, online gamers could be transported to another map and join a different game session once they’ve boarded the airplane. The interior of the airport could also be explored with ways to sneak past security with players’ weapons, allowing them to take them and other forbidden items on their travels.
3 Random Events Would Shake Things Up
An online world with more player vs environmental hazards would make each game session different. The GTA franchise has included some hostile wild animals, but more PvE dangers should exist in the next online experience. Heavy rain and occasional thunder and lightning is currently the most extreme weather online players will come across.
Hurricanes and tornadoes would make missions and races more challenging and create additional dangers such as strong winds and flailing debris. Random earthquakes could also occur, causing fires and tsunamis around the map. Some online aspects could even change seasonally such as zombie citizens during Halloween.
2 More Hobbies And Interests Online To Keep Gamers Entertained
Throughout the franchise, gamers have taken part in various hobbies and pastimes. In GTA IV, players could participate in bowling and pool while GTA: San Andreas introduced players to basketball. These unique activities were not included in the latest title, and Rockstar should consider the more popular pastimes for their next online entry.
In GTA V, gamers can engage in triathlons. However, this challenging hobby that players might want to try with friends isn’t available in GTA Online. The franchise’s next online title could even bring new hobbies to the table such as skateboarding, fishing, or parkour.
1 A Stronger Military Presence Would Give Gamers More Weaponry
Something that’s been missing from the series for a while is a military pursuit when a gamer’s felony-level is maxed out. This could be because it’s unrealistic that the army or navy would get involved. However, if a player is wreaking havoc downtown in a tank, the military could be called upon, and in this case, fight fire with fire to quickly neutralize the online threat.
In naval bases or offshore, having naval frigates or destroyers that can be hijacked would give gamers strong military weaponry to use against the law and hostile players. A battleship-style game mode could also be introduced here, allowing players to experience war at sea in the GTA universe.
