Pokémon Legends: Arceus has largely impressed fans of the Pokémon franchise since its release in January 2022 with its attempts to deviate from the norms of recent iterations of the games. From the introduction of crafting and resource gathering to the general immersion within the world of Pokémon, the game took strides towards finding the recipe for the perfect Pokémon game.
With trainer battles becoming less frequent and important, Noble Pokémon were introduced to Legends Arceus, replacing the Gym Battle system and badges. There are five Noble Pokémon events in total, and they are treated like proper video game bosses. They feature free-flowing combat sequences to learn and avoid, with traditional Pokémon battling becoming a secondary and optional alternative. Within the narrative of the game, each Noble Pokémon appears frenzied, making them more vicious and dangerous than anticipated, but some are stronger and more impressive than others.
5 The Lady Of The Ridge Lilligant Is Easy Enough To Defeat
The frenzied Noble Pokémon for the Crimson Mirelands is Hisuian Lilligant, known as the Lady of the Ridge. However, while Lilligant does keep its grace and elegance from its original form, the Hisuian variant is a dual Grass and Fighting type, a foreshadowing of its hard-hitting physical offense.
Unlike the battle with Kleavor, Lilligant leaves fewer free opportunities to throw balms it’s way, meaning that whittling its health down with Pokémon battles may be the logical step to achieve victory, as it has six type weaknesses in total. Just like with the original form, Hisuian Lilligant can be obtained by using a Sun Stone on a Petilil.
4 The Confrontation With Kleavor Is An Enjoyable Enough Introduction To The Noble Pokémon
The new evolution for Scyther that is introduced in Legends Arceus is a dual Rock & Bug-type Pokémon called Kleavor. Kleavor is the first Noble Pokémon to be faced in battle and quickly familiarizes players with how these boss battles are going to work.
The Axe Pokémon’s aggressive movements are easy enough to telegraph and predict, but are still dangerous to the player. Switching between throwing balms, dodging attacks, and calling upon Pokémon to chip away at Kleavor’s HP is the best way to beat Kleavor. This encounter is straightforward enough, but still exciting, especially with the Noble’s dramatic and anime-like entrance. Players can obtain a Kleavor for themselves by exposing a Scyther to a Black Augurite, triggering the evolution.
3 Avalugg Is Daunting In Size & Stature But Its Attacking Patterns Are Rather Predictable
The fifth and final Noble Pokémon to be fought in Pokémon Legends: Arceus is Hisuian Avalugg. With its new addition of the Rock typing, to go with its natural Ice, the Lord of the Tundra is naturally found in the Alabaster Icelands. This new type combination makes it susceptible to even more super effective moves than the original form, and thus it is not the most desirable of Pokémon to have on a team.
However, as the fifth and final boss in terms of the Noble Pokémon encounters, Hisuian Avalugg’s size and powerful moves are its most intimidating assets, with it unleashing relentless attacks. As with most video game bosses, there is a distinct pattern that can ultimately be telegraphed and predicted, and when followed by some quick battles using super-effective moves, the supposedly most intimidating fight of all the nobles should be over relatively quickly.
2 Electrode’s Explosive Nature Keeps Players On Their Toes
The Grass and Electric types make for an interesting combination that has only previously been used with the Mow form of Rotom, but Hisuian Voltorb and Electrode are the latest additions to the gang. The new design gives them both a more wooden and realistic look, making them appear more natural in grassy and forest environments. Hisuian Voltorb evolves into Electrode with the help of a Leaf Stone.
Hisuian Electrode is the Lord of the Hollow in the Coronet Highlands and the fourth Noble Pokémon. The battle requires constant movement and dodge rolling to avoid its classic exploding tendencies, with standing still spelling a quick demise for the player. Electrode’s new type combination may negate its one prior weakness to Ground, but the Grass typing brings forth four new weaknesses instead. This makes battling a more appealing option, but finding the time and space to engage in such a strategy, is tough.
1 Arcanine Restricts The Battlefield With Intense Flames
Hisuian Growlithe was one of the first new Hisuian variant designs to be leaked and released to the public, and the general feedback was positive, with fans enjoying the dual Rock and Fire typing being incorporated into its look. Its evolved form, Hisuian Arcanine, is the third Noble Pokémon of Legends Arceus, known as Lord of the Isles.
Unlike the other four Noble Pokémon, Arcanine is given more of a backstory. It starts as a Growlithe under the protection of Warden Palina with a tragic backstory and an inevitable destiny of becoming the next Lord of the Isles. Hisuian Arcanine provides the first real challenge, with limited space available to dodge roll away from devastating Fire-type moves. The best strategy is to try and engage in battles as often as possible, with Water and Ground-types being especially effective in dealing substantial damage.
