Resident Evil Village: How Long to Beat & Complete the Game | CBR

Resident Evil Village continues the story of Ethan Winters, the protagonist of 2017’s Resident Evil VII. The previous entry was notable for revitalizing the series and introducing a first-person perspective, allowing players to more intimately experience Winters’ terror at the hands of the Baker family as he tried to locate his missing-but-presumed-dead wife. Village picks up three years after the events of RE7; this time, Winters is on a quest to rescue his kidnapped daughter. Leaving behind the Louisiana plantation for a European village, Village is inhabited by mutated creatures and other monsters, including the fan-favorite Lady Dimitrescu.

Village may not have won Game of the Year at The Game Awards last year, but it made CBR’s Top 10 Games of 2021. It maintains the first-person perspective established in RE7 and introduces a whole host of new, memorable characters. The main campaign is a respectable length for its story, and those looking to dig deeper have plenty of extras to hunt.

How Long It Takes To Beat Resident Evil Village

The story of Village is not broken into chapters. Players can best keep track of their progress in the game by how many bosses they have beaten. Village has five major bosses to defeat, alongside some mini-bosses, each within their own unique puzzle-like environments. The first of these major bosses is Lady Dimitrescu herself, forcing players to navigate House Dimitrescu in search of an escape.

Village is very close in length to REVII, which brought the series back to a sub-10 hour campaign. An average playtime of Resident Evil Village will take nine hours and 30 minutes.

How Long It Takes To Complete Resident Evil Village

Village has a wealth of extras players can hunt after, but players should take note that many areas become inaccessible after progressing through the story. Content does carry over to New Game+, so it’s not a complete loss if players miss items on their first run. On average, it takes players 36 hours and 30 minutes to fully complete Resident Evil Village.

Players can find 20 Goats of Warding hidden throughout various locations. These miniature wooden goat figurines can be shot, and players who shoot all of them will earn a hefty amount of currency for the post-game Extra Content Store.

Weapons and weapon upgrades are other major components in Village. Winters can find the likes of handguns, shotguns and rifles, each of which can be upgraded. Some of these weapons are found in levels, others must be purchased from the Duke.

Files containing lore return once again, and players can find numerous recipes and ingredients for the Duke to cook. Treasures of various rarity are also scattered throughout the environments, all of which can be sold to the Duke for profit.

Players looking for extra challenges can partake of the Mercenaries Mode upon completing the game, as well as hunting down special bonus bosses. One is an ogre, and another is a werewolf. This second boss only appears at a certain time during the game if certain conditions are met, so players will want to be prepared before taking it on.
