For more than a decade, Naruto was one of the most popular manga and anime series in the world, and it is still held in high regard, especially since its sequel series has received mixed reviews. Naruto is the main character, and his dream was to become the Leaf Village’s Hokage. He started off as a knuckleheaded ninja, but by the end of the series, he masters several jutsu, and he gains an almost unlimited amount of chakra by befriending the Nine-Tailed Fox sealed within him.
The anime industry is filled with hundreds of protagonists who have their own set of unique skills and abilities, and some of them can be considered Naruto’s equal. A few are even stronger than him, but there are a number of protagonists who are weaker than him as well.
10 Edward’s Alchemy Cannot Compare To Ninjutsu (FMA: Brotherhood)
Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood is a perfect example of a sad anime with a very happy ending. Edward Elric is the main character, and he puts his life on the line to save his country while also trying to get his little brother’s body back.
Alchemy is an ancient mystical art that uses science, and it is Edward’s main weapon. It allows him to manipulate and change matter, which means that its application is almost limitless. Ed can create whatever he wants with alchemy, but even he wouldn’t be able to overcome the ninjutsu used by Pain, Sasuke, or Madara. Naruto was able to fight these god-tier individuals though.
9 Senku’s Intelligence Can Only Get Him So Far (Dr. Stone)
Senku Ishigami was petrified along with most of humanity for over 3,000 years, but he was revived by a special natural fluid. he possesses a genius-level intellect, and he is using it to bring science back to the world. By doing this, he hopes to revive everyone who is still petrified.
Senku is one of the smartest male anime characters of all time, but his genius-level intellect would not help him much in a ninja fight. Naruto is no genius, but he is still fairly smart in battle, which is why he can fight powerful shinobi. Unlike Naruto though, Senku cannot use ninjutsu, which means that his intelligence can only get him so far.
8 Eren’s Titan Powers Mean Nothing To Naruto’s Tailed Beast Mode (Attack On Titan)
When Attack on Titan began, Eren wanted to kill every single Titan to avenge his mother and humanity as a whole. Like the story, Eren’s path has changed a great deal since the beginning, and he can now be considered the series’ best villain.
Eren possesses the Warhammer, Attack, and Founding Titan, which means that he can use his skin to create weapons and structures. He can also control other Titans. At full power, Eren can literally flatten all of humanity, but no Titan can stand up against Naruto, especially if he is in his massive Tailed Beast Mode.
7 Yoh’s Shaman Powers Would Not Fair Any Better (Shaman King)
Yoh Asakura is by no means one of anime’s edgiest characters, but he is still a great protagonist who can interact with spirits. Yoh strives to become Shaman King, and to defeat his twin brother—who is the reincarnation of an ancient Shaman who wishes to create a world where only Shaman exist.
Amidamaru is a 600-year-old spirit, and he is Yoh’s Guardian Ghost. He and Yoh essentially become one in battle, and they can use several techniques. These techniques work well against other Shamans, but against ninja who are near Naruto’s level, Yoh would be unable to keep up with their speed and jutsu. Plus Naruto himself can take him out with one Rasengan.
6 Tanjiro’s Swordsmanship Can’t Get Past Naruto’s Sage Mode (Demon Slayer)
So far, Demon Slayer’s second season is just as compelling and visually stunning as its first, and Tanjiro has shown why he is considered one of the series’ strongest characters. Tanjiro is a very skilled swordsman who can use both Water and Sun Breathing fighting forms.
He has fought a number of strong demons, and he was able to keep up with them because of his exceptional stamina and endurance. Unfortunately, Naruto can use Sage Mode, which allows him to sense attacks, so Tanjiro’s swordsmanship would be fairly ineffective. His endurance would also mean nothing against Naruto or any other Jinchūriki.
5 Goblin Slayer’s Expertise Is Worthless Against Ninja (Goblin Slayer)
Goblin Slayer is a fairly mature series, but at the end of the day, it tells the story of a silver-ranked adventurer who only cares about hunting goblins. He likes to work alone, but he is usually accompanied by a priestess, a high elf archer, a lizard priest, and a dwarf.
He is a well-trained fighter and ranger with impressive endurance, and he is a great strategist. Unfortunately, all of his combat expertise revolves around fighting Goblins, and most of those skills would not help him in a fight against Naruto, or any other ninja above Genin level.
4 Maka Albarn May Have Soul, But She Can’t Take On A Tailed Beast Bomb (Soul Eater)
Maka is a two-star meister, and her goal is to turn her partner into a weapon that is more powerful than her adulterous father. Her partner is a Death Scythe, and as his name suggests, he can transform into a large scythe.
She is a very good fighter, and she is capable of using a rare soul-type called Grigori, which allows her to use advanced magical-like powers. Maka might be able to take on someone like Hidan since he uses a scythe too, but seeing as she can’t take on a Tailed Beast Bomb, she is nowhere near Naruto’s level.
3 Tatsumi’s Teigu Cannot Withstand A Rasenshuriken (Akame Ga Kill!)
Tatsumi is a kindhearted individual who wanted to make a name for himself in the imperial capital so he could earn money for his village. When he realizes how corrupt and vile the Empire is, he joins a group called Night Raid, and he eventually obtains an Imperial Arm called Incursio.
This Imperial Arm may look like a short sword, but when it is activated, it covers the user’s body in armor. The armor is made from the flesh of a powerful dragon-like beast, and it is capable of evolving. Incursio may provide a decent amount of protection, but it wouldn’t be able to withstand the destructive power of Naruto’s Rasenshuriken.
2 All Of Light’s Power Comes From A Notebook (Death Note)
There are a number of problematic anime characters that fans should not like, and Light Yagami is one of them. Light started off as an ordinary high school kid, but his entire life changed when he found the Death Note.
This notebook gave him the ability to kill anyone, and all he had to do was write their name in it. At first, he only killed criminals, but he later develops a god complex which makes him kill good people. Light may be smart, but all of his power comes from the notebook. Without it, he is just an ordinary human.
1 Even With All For One, Izuku Cannot Stand Up Against Naruto’s Arsenal (My Hero Academia)
Izuku Midoriya has been a part of some of My Hero Academia’s funniest moments, but he also possesses one of the series’ strongest Quirks. He is the current host of One For All—a Quirk that boosts his physical strength and speed to superhuman levels. It also gives him enhanced stamina, durability, and reflexes.
It gives him access to the abilities of previous hosts as well. As a result, he can float, sense danger, create smokescreens, and manifest black tendrils. Even with all of these abilities, Izuku would not be able to deal with Naruto’s arsenal. A Rasengan would still severely damage his organs, and Naruto would be on a completely different level if he used Kurama’s chakra.
