Marvel Studios’ She-Hulk series may pair Tatiana Maslany with some additional hulked-out heroes.
TV Time, a scheduling app that allows users to track upcoming shows, has listed the titles for all 10 episodes of She-Hulk. Though most of these listings offer little new information, the series finale’s title suggests a significant development for the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The episode, tentatively titled “She-Hulks,” implies Jennifer Walters will not be the only She-Hulk featured in the show. Furthermore, TV Time’s projected airdates for She-Hulk suggest the series will debut sometime in June.
In Marvel’s comics, multiple women have claimed the name She-Hulk. The original She-Hulk, Jennifer Walters, debuted in Savage She-Hulk #1 by Stan Lee and John Buscema as the cousin of the Incredible Hulk, Bruce Banner. After a mobster shot Jen, Bruce used his gamma-radiated blood for a transfusion, saving Jen’s life and unintentionally giving her a version of his powers. Years later, an all-new She-Hulk named Lyra appeared. This She-Hulk was the time-displaced daughter of Bruce and, unlike other Hulks, became weaker as she got angrier. Finally, Betty Ross, Bruce’s longtime love-interest, was transformed by the Intelligencia into a Red She-Hulk. The three heroes initially clashed with one another but then put aside their differences during Fall of the Hulks and the subsequent series, World War Hulks, to take down members of the Intelligencia.
She-Hulk’s potential title isn’t the only piece of information suggesting the inclusion of additional heroes in the series. Last year, reports surfaced suggesting that She-Hulk will set up the MCU’s World War Hulk by introducing Skaar, the son of Hulk (and Lyra’s half-brother). These rumors also claimed She-Hulk will include the Intelligencia in its narrative. However, whereas the group of villains is a massive scientific empire in the comics, these rumors call the MCU’s version of the characters “women-hating incels” who use a knockoff Hulk serum on their leader.
While fans wait for information on She-Hulk‘s new arrivals, Marvel Studios has confirmed the series will bring back Abomination. Played by Tim Roth, Abomination originally appeared in the MCU’s last Hulk-centric feature, 2008’s The Incredible Hulk. After over a decade away, Roth reprised the role in 2021 for Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, setting up a more significant part in She-Hulk. Roth was surprised Marvel wanted him back but said he was excited to return for She-Hulk. Roth also revealed Abomination will regain his human form in the series, reverting back to his alter-ego of Emil Blonsky.
She-Hulk is expected to premiere later in 2022.
