WARNING: The following contains major spoilers for Catwoman: Hunted, now available for 4K UHD, Blu-ray and digital HD.
Catwoman: Hunted found Selina Kyle at her most conniving, playing Interpol into thinking it actually recruited her. She was also manipulating Batwoman/Kate Kane Julia Pennyworth and King Faraday because she needed their resources to take down Cheetah, the public face of Leviathan. However, given the large number of problems she had with the terrorist group and other villains, some key threads were left lingering that could set up a high-octane sequel.
Talia al Ghul Will Want Revenge In a Catwoman: Hunted Sequel
It turns out the real head of Leviathan was Talia, who repurposed her father’s ninja assassins from the League to go after the Cat. Talia also deployed Solomon Grundy, but Selina, with Kate’s help, was able to take them out and kill Cheetah. However, Talia made it clear she still wanted Selina dead, harboring anger over how the Cat had a romance with Bruce going and stole a gem from her.
This jealousy is enough to have Talia come back for revenge. After the likes of Cheshire failed, she could hire other assassins like Lady Shiva, Deathstroke or even local Gotham threats like Firefly for the League. The stakes will be personal with all this ego mixed in, setting up the two women for one final clash to see who’d be the last one standing.
Catwoman’s Anti-Trafficking Crusade Could Continue in a Catwoman: Hunted Sequel
Catwoman wanted Cheetah dead because she was trafficking young women, which touched on the Cat’s comic backstory. But instead of playing games, the Cat can go on the offensive if the ring is still operational in a sequel. It might not even be Taloa but other Leviathan offshoots opting to trade women for wealth, which opens the door for Selina to recruit characters like the Birds of Prey, Gotham City Sirens or even the Dark Knight’s sidekicks, such as Kate, Barbara Gordon/Batgirl, Cassandra Cain/Orphan and Stephanie Brown/Spoiler. This would lead to a true female-driven story and reiterate how heated Catwoman can get over issues of justice.
Catwoman May Be Hunted By New Villains In a Catwoman: Hunted Sequel
Talia’s goons, such as Black Mask and Tobias Whale, failed to kill Selina under Cheetah’s watch, so they could break out of Interpol’s captivity to fix their mistake. It doesn’t even have to be related to Leviathan — they could just want to soothe their bruised egos by murdering her after she double-crossed them.
Another possibility is that Talia factors in again. But instead of using the League, she could put out an open contract. These old minions, once freed, would chomp at the bit for a second chance, and it would invite new hunters in for the claim. Bane, Anarky, the Falcones or even Flash rogues like Captain Boomerang are all candidates who’d understand getting into Talia’s good graces would be mighty beneficial.
To see how the film sets up a sequel, Catwoman: Hunted is now available for 4K UHD, Blu-ray and digital HD.
