Jackass Forever star Johnny Knoxville revealed he suffered a brain hemorrhage and several other injuries after getting knocked into the air by a bull while shooting the upcoming movie.
In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Knoxville said the fourth film in the hit franchise features the “gnarliest” hit he’s ever taken by a bull, with the death-defying stunt sending him to the hospital “with a broken wrist, broken rib, concussion and brain hemorrhage.”
Knoxville added, “It took a little while to recover from that. So whatever the future holds, this is probably my last time with a bull because you can only take so many chances before something forever happens. After the brain hemorrhages and everything, the doctors were like, ‘You can’t have any more concussions.'”
Knoxville’s near-deadly bull encounter was teased in the recently released final trailer for Jackass Forever, which promises a variety of other dangerous stunts and hilarious pranks. Arriving more than a decade after the previous entry in the series, Jackass 3D, the latest sequel features a new generation of jackasses alongside franchise staples like Knoxville, Steve-O, Chris Pontius and Jason “Wee Man” Acuña.
Missing from the main cast list is original Jackass member Bam Margera, who sued the film’s producers for wrongful termination when he was axed from the project during shooting. Although Margera was reportedly fired for failing to abide by conditions set forth by producers — including staying sober and seeking mental health counseling — he’s still expected to make a brief appearance in the final cut of Jackass Forever.
Paramount Pictures recently released a painful new clip from Jackass Forever dubbed the “cup test,” which features UFC heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou delivering a devastating punch to Danger Ehren’s groin in order to test the durability of the cup he’s wearing.
In honor of the film’s release, Paramount Pictures also announced a special “fan appreciation night” that will be held on Feb. 3 in participating theaters. The one-night event will include “extended bonus content” shown after the film’s credits, including “a special cast & filmmaker round-table discussion curated specifically for fans seeing the film on the big screen.”
Originally scheduled to hit theaters in October 2021, Paramount Pictures delayed Jackass Forever just one month prior to its release when the COVID-19 Delta variant began rising. Despite the recent spread of the Omicron variant, the highly-anticipated sequel is still on track to arrive in theaters on Feb. 4.
