The Book of Boba Fett Delivered Star Wars’ Most Brutal Lightsaber Death

Warning: The following contains spoilers from Star Wars: The Book of Boba Fett “Chapter 5: The Return of the Mandalorian,” streaming now on Disney+.

In the Star Wars Universe, there have been quite a few gut-wrenching lightsaber kills spanning the decades of films, comics and cartoons. Darth Maul stabbing Qui-Gon Jinn in The Phantom Menace’s final act, as well as Kylo Ren gutting Han Solo in The Force Awakens, are heartbreaking examples that stood out, but the one that shook fans most was when Obi-Wan got revenge by cutting Maul in half. However, come The Book of Boba Fett, the most brutal of all these lightsaber deaths just took place, and it’s all due to Din Djarin.

Fans were ecstatic to see The Mandalorian’s protagonist return, hunting down Kaba Biaz at his meat facility, so he could use the reward to find his peers. Din, as expected, faced resistance, as he aimed to cash in on Kaba’s marker, but luckily, thanks to his armor and the Darksaber, Din was able to cut the fiends down.

He struggled, however, as the Darksaber got heavier as he wielded it, even to the point he wounded himself, but he was as efficient and quick as ever, mutilating the goons while reacting in the blink of an eye to stab Kaba when the don attacked. Din pierced his chest, but it got much scarier when Din tossed him onto his gambling table and then mercilessly cut Kaba in half.

Din Djarin performed the most brutal lightsaber kill ever in Star Wars

It was ruthless and reminded fans despite how The Mandalorian painted Din as an anti-hero with a soft voice, he was an aggressive, stone-cold killer who could act like a one-man army at times. What really resonated in this exchange was the swift action and how relentless Din was, reminding the gangsters he was slicing up that while he could cash in the body alive, he preferred the body to be dead after such unwarranted insolence.

The icing on the cake occurred after, when Din emerged from the chamber with a bag holding Kaba’s head to send a message. It was an intimidating sight, but the other workers knew better than to try to fight. He offered them Kaba’s money from the gambling session that just ended, and after hearing the blasts, blows and cutting sounds of Din, they knew not to interrupt his mission.

It was truly unadulterated violence, which topped the macabre feel that shocked fans when Maul’s body fell into two parts. Admittedly, there was no blood in that movie, and while there wasn’t here either, the choreography and seeing Din slicing up an enemy in the brawl added a horror effect to the mix. It upped the scare factor and reinforced why these bounty hunters have been feared for so long, with Din being a lot more impatient and bloodthirsty than one of the nastiest Sith Lords ever.

To see Din pull off this shocking execution, watch The Book of Boba Fett, now streaming on Disney+.
