Marvel is the current sales leader in the comic industry, with a rich line of comics that fans have been eating up. They’ve dug heavily into their B and C list for characters to helm books in recent years and have expanded parts of their lines greatly, especially the X-Men books. The great thing about the Marvel Universe is that even when it feels like they are scraping the bottom of the barrel, things aren’t what they seem.
Marvel has such a rich history full of great characters that so many could easily have a book of their own. There’s no end to the number of great books they could put out.
10 Northstar Has Long Deserved A Book Of His Own
Northstar has been getting so much more spotlight in recent years. A big factor in this is his joining the X-Men, which has put more eyes on the character than ever before. Northstar is a very entertaining character, his sarcasm and arrogance making him great to read, and his husband Kyle makes an excellent foil for him.
He was one of the most entertaining parts of the latest incarnation of X-Factor, and his powers make him a devastating combatant. With all of the spotlight put on mutants lately, giving him his own book would be great for readers who recently learned just how much fun he can be.
9 Elektra Is Again Ready For A Starring Role
One of the best parts of Daredevil recently has been Elektra taking his place as Daredevil. Fans remembered how much they loved her, and it showed just how easily she could have her own book. Over the years, Elektra has been all over the Marvel Universe and has many relationships beyond Daredevil that can be brought to the forefront.
She works as a straight superhero, a vigilante, or in secret agent stories. She’s so versatile that a book starring her can go in many different directions. With characters like Black Cat and Moon Knight getting books, there’s no reason Elektra can’t join them.
8 The Daughters Of The Dragon Are One Of Marvel’s Most Underrated Duos
Marvel has a lot of great street-level heroes, and perhaps the most unsung are the Daughters of the Dragon, consisting of Misty Knight and Colleen Wing. Fans have loved them for ages, but they’ve mostly been guest stars, which is a tragedy. Knight and Wing have a long history as New York vigilantes and could easily have their own book.
Knight is the hard-edged detective with a cybernetic arm, and Wing brings the martial arts mayhem. While they don’t have many villains of their own, there are plenty of great antagonists out there who they can take on and have a great comic.
7 Ares Can Be The Blue-Collar Thor
While Marvel is all about the Norse gods, that doesn’t mean they’re the only divine game in town. There are some very powerful Olympians in the Marvel Universe, and one of the best is Ares. Ares was a member of the post-Civil War Mighty Avengers and the Dark Avengers, where his no-nonsense attitude was highly entertaining. While other Marvel gods are Shakespearean, Ares is just a guy with a big ax who loves to fight.
There’s a lot of potential for Ares, especially since his resurrection. He hasn’t been used in years, and giving him his own book could get eyes back on him and make him into the blue-collar Thor, a God of War out to kick butt until he can’t anymore.
6 Nick Fury Hasn’t Had A Comic In Years, And It’s Time To Change That
Nick Fury’s legacy in the Marvel Universe is complicated. The SHIELD head has done some shady things in the name of good, but that’s one of the things that make him so interesting. While he was shunted away from things for a while to become the Unseen, a new kind of Watcher, bringing him back as the classic Nick Fury could pay dividends.
Nick Fury’s old books were great spy thrillers, which is something that is missing in the current Marvel Universe. Giving Fury his own book to explore the black ops sections of the Marvel Universe would provide readers with another kind of story and bring him back to prominence.
5 Monica Rambeau Has Never Had A Solo Book, And That Needs To Change
Monica Rambeau is potentially the most powerful Captain Marvel, and she’s easily the most accomplished. Carol Danvers has done many great things, but she’s never led the Avengers, while Monica has. Since losing the Captain Marvel mantle, Monica has been all over the Marvel Universe, but she’s never had a solo book.
With her upcoming MCU spotlight, now is a better time than ever for Monica to get a book. She has the eyes on her, and newer fans need more great Monica stories so they can realize what older fans have long known: Monica Rambeau is the best.
4 Human Torch Has A Lot Of Potential On His Own
Of the Fantastic Four, only the Thing has ever recieved any solo spotlight. This makes sense, but another FF member could do just as well on his own. The Human Torch has long been one of the team’s best members, but beyond his co-starring role in Marvel Two-In-One, he’s not seen much outside of Fantastic Four books.
Johnny Storm has everything a character needs to be a solo star. He’s fun to read about, has great powers, and he’s faced so many villains that there is a raft of antagonists for him to fight. Giving him a book would show he’s more than just a team book guy and a star on his own.
3 War Machine Has What It Takes To Be In His Own Book
Not to mince words, but War Machine is a much better hero than Iron Man, and yet he hasn’t had a book of his own in years. This is a travesty for a character as important to the Marvel Universe as he is. He was one of the first legacy characters ever, taking over as Iron Man, and since then has been a great part of every book he’s been in.
With Iron Man, fans have to ignore his checkered past, but that’s not something one has to do with War Machine. He’s a great hero, and while he wears armor, he has a very different MO than Stark. He’s perfect for a book of his own.
2 Wolverine Needs A Solo Book Again
Laura Kinney’s time as Wolverine was a huge success, and fans need to see her on her own again. Recently rechristened Wolverine again, she’s taken her father’s place in the X-Men, but she isn’t exactly being served well in the team’s book. Laura deserves to have a comic again, both because her fans have been clamoring for it and because she’s a great character.
Laura brings a unique perspective to Wolverine that her father doesn’t, and the two can easily co-exist in solo books. Wolverine proved she could be a star, and the fact that Marvel has held her back again is a travesty.
1 Magik Is A Star Waiting To Be Born
Magik is one of the most powerful mutants on Krakoa and has been built up a lot in the last decade. She’s taken her long-deserved place at the top of the mutant heap, and the great thing about a book starring her is that it wouldn’t just be a stereotypical mutant book. Magik’s status as one of the Earth’s greatest sorcerers means her book can go in many different directions.
It’s bizarre that Magik has been as built up as she has been and yet does not have her own book. She’s been put in the perfect position for it, and there’s so much that can be done with the character in a solo setting. Magik is a star who needs a place to shine.
