Stone Ocean: 10 Best Fights In The Manga, Ranked | CBR

Hirohiko Araki’s long-running shonen manga, JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure, is known for its outlandish, incredible fights between Stand users, and Stone Ocean, the sixth part of the series, is no exception. Jolyne Cujoh, imprisoned for a crime she didn’t commit, finds herself battling enemies with strange, powerful, and downright terrifying abilities during her adventures inside Green Dolphin Street Prison.

Each showdown is tense and exciting, showcasing just how inventive Stand users can be with their powers and the depths that the villains will stoop to, while the unique prison setting provides an interesting backdrop for the most intense fights the manga has to offer.

10 Marilyn Manson Showed All Bets Were Off

Miraschon’s Stand, Marilyn Manson, had an unusual ability that could only be used if the victim and Miraschon agreed to a bet, but Jolyne was forced into a wager when Miraschon’s ability stole Ermes’ liver right out of her body.

The battle then became a game of catch, with Jolyne and Foo Fighters forced to throw a baseball back and forth through a darkened room and an elevator, ending only when Jolyne caught up to Miraschon and delivered a beatdown in classic JoJo style.

9 Donatello Versus Trapped Jolyne In Past Events

Near the end of the series, Jolyne and Ermes found themselves in a hospital under attack by the mysterious Stand, Under World, who could replay events of a location’s history. The Stand’s user, Donatello Versus, was one of DIO’s sons and tried to kill Jolyne and Hermes, trapping them inside the locational memory of an airplane that crashed years ago.

Jolyne managed to save herself, Ermes, and three innocent children from the crash, then tracked Donatello down. During their final battle, he summoned the memory of an NFL player to tackle Jolyne before Annasui finally finished things for good.

8 Jolyne, Ermes, & Emporio Almost Fell Victim To Sky High

Rikiel was the son of JoJo’s most notorious villain, DIO Brando, and his Stand Sky High gave him control over strange, tiny creatures known as Rods. He could move them at incredible speeds and force his enemies’ eyelids to close, a helicopter to crash, and Ermes’ finger to rot off.

This gruesome fight culminated with Jolyne lighting herself on fire to stop the Rods from stealing her body heat and shutting her brain off for good, with Rikiel finally being finished off by Ermes.

7 Johngalli A Almost Killed Jolyne & Jotaro

The blind sniper Johngalli A., a loyal follower of DIO, was the man responsible for framing Jolyne and getting her sent to prison. Jotaro and Jolyne were ambushed by him in prison, but thanks to Stone Free’s strings, she caught the sniper’s bullet, stopping it from doing serious damage, and the fight was on.

Johngalli’s Stand, Manhattan Transfer, acted as a spotter, allowing him to fire upon the JoJos from unpredictable angles, though the fight was only an illusion created by Whitesnake. When Johngalli appeared in reality, Jolyne put an end to the assassin with some good old ORA ORA action.

6 Jumpin’ Jack Flash Turned Gravity Off For The JoJo Crew

Jumpin' Jack Flash fires his weapon in JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Stone Ocean

Cornered by the zero-gravity Stand Jumpin’ Jack Flash, Jolyne was caught off-guard when everything that Lang Rangler, the Stand’s user, had spit upon suddenly started floating. Lang easily took her father’s Memory DISC away from Jolyne and trapped her and Weather Report in a room with rapidly decreasing air pressure.

Thanks to Weather Report’s quick thinking and his Stand’s ability to control the weather, they made their way to the Stand’s user in cloud suits just in time to stop the villain with some punches from Stone Free, though Lang’s rapid-fire attacks injured Jolyne heavily.

5 Ermes Finally Got Her Revenge On Sports Maxx

Ermes Costello, Jolyne’s closest ally, intentionally got herself imprisoned to get close to Sports Maxx, the man who murdered her sister. Ambushing him, Ermes trapped the gangster in a pipe and thought that the fight was over. However, Sports Maxx used his Stand, Limp Bizkit, which could raise the dead as invisible zombies, to counterattack before launching an all-out assault with a taxidermied alligator.

With her friends badly wounded, it was up to Ermes to finish off Sports Maxx, now a zombie himself, in the midst of an all-out undead battle in the prison cemetery.

4 Weather Report, Annasui, & Jolyne VS Pucci (& Heavy Weather)

When Donatello Versus restored Weather Report’s Memory DISC, it unlocked his Stand’s hidden ability, Heavy Weather, a strange effect that used the refraction of the sun’s rays to convince people and animals they were turning into snails. The streets of Orlando were a nightmare scene of hideous mutated beings, including the JoJo crew themselves.

Despite their ongoing mutation, they managed to fend off Pucci and stop Heavy Weather, though the priest got away, leaving Donatello Versus and Weather Report dead in his wake.

3 Bohemian Rhapsody Brought The World Of Fiction To Life

Annasui and Weather Report fighting the Stand Bohemian Rhapsody in JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Stone Ocean

While Weather Report and Annasui were driving past Disney World, they were surprised that Mickey Mouse wasn’t on any of the signs or guidebooks. Little did they know that this was the work of an enemy Stand, controlled by DIO’s son, Ungalo. Bohemian Rhapsody had the power to bring fictional characters to reality and the characters it created could split the souls of its victims from their bodies.

Annasui defeated Pinocchio, The Big Bad Wolf, and some creepy, tiny goats before Weather Report created a fictional hero called Put Back to put every other character back where they belonged.

2 Whitesnake & Pucci VS Foo Fighters and Jolyne

Enrico Pucci and his Stand Whitesnake in JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Stone Ocean

Foo Fighters was a sentient collection of plankton—part Stand, part Stand user—and though she was originally Pucci’s lackey, Jolyne saved her life and she joined the JoJo crew. When she found out that Whitesnake was the Stand of Father Pucci, she battled them both before the body she inhabited was destroyed by the enemy Stand.

Desperate to get this information to Jolyne, she tried to escape, but Pucci tricked her into absorbing boiling water, nearly destroying her completely. Weather Report saved her life by making it rain, and in the end, she sacrificed herself to save Annasui, who had been mortally wounded by Whitesnake.

1 Made In Heaven Reset The Entire JoJo’s Universe

Jolyne Cujoh's Stand Stone Free fighting Enrico Pucci in JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Stone Ocean

When Jolyne’s crew had nearly defeated Father Pucci at Cape Canaveral, Pucci’s Stand C-Moon transformed into Made In Heaven, a Stand with the ability to accelerate time and control gravity. Pucci was already powerful enough to move inside Star Platinum’s stopped time, but now he had full mastery over time’s speed.

Time accelerated rapidly as Pucci used DIO’s trademark knife throwing attack on the heroes, destroying almost all of them. Jolyne was torn apart by Pucci’s Stand just before time reached its end and started anew, leaving only Emporio alive. Emporio, using Weather Report’s Stand DISC, finally defeated Pucci, and a new universe was born.
