REVIEW: Andaseat’s T-Compact Gaming Chair Is Great for Work & Play

A good chair is an important, but too often overlooked, part of any gaming setup, particularly for PC gamers and those who also work where they game. For those who fall into the latter camp (myself included), a chair with good back support is an absolute must, and being able to adjust it in a variety of ways as needed is a great bonus.

This is where the AndaSeat T-Compact Premium Gaming Chair excels. After spending a week working and gaming in one, I can gladly say that it’s a comfortable seat for someone who spends most of the day sitting at a desk working, then puts their work aside to spend hours gaming — and it does it all while also being compact enough to work in just about any gaming space.

As someone who lives in an apartment in a major city, space is a precious limited resource that kept me from seriously considering investing in a gaming chair. After all, a lot of the nice ones are bulky, so trying to maneuver one into my office space without moving everything else around or knocking something over when I move was a legitimate risk. However, the T-Compact fits nicely into my space without sacrificing any of the quality that makes a gaming chair worth having.

The AndaSeat T-Compact Gaming Chair in Gray

For one, this chair is incredibly versatile. Not only can the height be adjusted like with most office chairs, but you can tinker with just about anything, and easily. The armrests can be moved up or down, pulled backwards or forwards, pushed side to side, and even rotated to face straight ahead or at an angle. It can also recline from a 90° sitting position all the way to 160° by using a lever on the side, and it will stay where you want it until you pull the lever again.

When I first starting experimenting with the chair, I was concerned that the recline range was a cool option, but one that I wouldn’t feel comfortable actually using out of concern for safety and support. I was happy to be proven wrong, though, as I felt perfectly secure lying back in the T-Compact with it fully reclined. While 160° may be too far to do anything other than relax, sitting just a bit further up was perfect for playing a laidback game like Animal Crossing: New Horizons or even a turn based game like Shin Megami Tensei V.

Really, my only complaint about the chair has to do with its assembly instructions. While not particularly hard to put together, the installation guide’s directions basically amount to “put this here” and “screw that in” without too much in the way of detail, tips or much to indicate where you may need to take extra care. For example, one part instructs the reader to distinguish between the left and right side covers, but it doesn’t specify which is which or how to tell them apart, and the breakdown of what’s in the box shows the two side by side in an image that makes them appear identical.

Ultimately, it took me about an hour to build my T-Compact, though I also should note that I’m quite petite and was working alone. If I’d had another set of hands to hold things in place or to help position the larger pieces, though, I definitely could have been done sooner. Given just how much this chair can do, though, it’s impressive that it can be assembled relatively easily without lowering the quality or feeling insecure.

At $399.99, the AndaSeat T-Compact Premium Gaming Chair definitely isn’t an impulse buy or something that’ll fit into every gamer’s budget. Still, a good chair is an important investment for anyone who spends all day sitting at a desk. My last week with the T-Compact has made me more aware of what I was missing out on (and how I was, frankly, hurting myself) by sticking with a cheaply-made office chair with virtually no back or lumbar support. A high-quality chair really does make a difference, and AndaSeat’s gaming chairs are versatile and supportive enough to fit into anyone’s setup.

The T-Compact Premium Gaming Chair is available on AndaSeat’s website. Certain chair models, including the Dark Demon, Jungle Series and Marvel Collection, are included in AndaSeat’s Black Friday sale, which is running from now until Nov 30.
