Reiner was one of Attack on Titan‘s main characters, one of the most dangerous antagonists at the beginning of the manga, and arguably the main protagonist by the end. As the Armored Titan, Reiner played an important role no matter what he was doing, and he accomplished a lot with it.
From his heroic acts as a soldier to everything he did for his country as a warrior, these are Reiner’s greatest achievements throughout the manga, including things that will come into play in the second part of the final season.
10 He Was One Of The Best Soldiers In The 104th Cadet Corps
After going to Paradis, Reiner, Bertholdt, and Annie decided to become soldiers. They joined the 104th Cadet Corps and worked hard for years so they’d become the best soldiers they could be. Reiner ended up being the second-best soldier, allowing him to join the Military Police if he wanted to. While this was his original goal, he ended up deciding to become a Survey Corps soldier once he discovered that Eren was a titan shifter. While he and Bertholdt tried to get close to Eren, Annie was the only warrior to join the Military Police.
9 Reiner And Bertholdt Captured Eren
When Reiner and Bertholdt were finally able to get close to Eren, they revealed that they were the Armored and Colossal Titans, hoping that Eren would willingly go to Marley with them. Once he refused, Bertholdt captured Ymir while Eren and Reiner fought. Though Eren almost won the battle, Bertholdt helped Reiner capture him as well. Years since their mission began, it seemed like it would finally be complete. Unfortunately, the Survey Corps was able to save Eren, who discovered that he could activate the coordinate, forcing the warriors to leave their enemies alone for a while. Though they weren’t able to finish their mission, it is impressive how far Reiner and Bertholdt got.
8 He Survived The Battle In Shiganshina
When the Warrior Unit fought the Survey Corps at Shiganshina, members of both sides died. While the Colossal and Beast Titans were able to kill most of the soldiers, Levi defeated the titans that Zeke controlled and fed Bertholdt to Armin. Reiner nearly lost his life multiple times as well, due to the Survey Corps creating a weapon specifically meant to hurt him, the thunder spears. However, he was able to survive their attack and fled to Marley with Pieck and Zeke, finally being able to return home.
7 He Defended His Friends In Utgard Castle
When Reiner, Bertholdt, Historia, Connie, and Ymir went to Utgard Castle, they were attacked by the titans that used to be the citizens of Ragako. In the battle, Reiner did everything that he could to protect his comrades, especially Connie, who was nearly eaten by a small titan. However, Reiner stopped the titan, but it bit his arm in the process.
As a result, Reiner was able to drag the titan towards a window and push it out of it. After Historia healed him, the group continued their battle. It ended with Ymir revealing herself to be the Jaw Titan and saving them with the help of other Survey Corps soldiers that came to the rescue.
6 He Let The Titans Get Into Wall Maria
When Reiner, Marcel, Annie, and Bertholdt went to Paradis to take the Founding Titan to Marley, they almost failed their mission as soon as it started. Reiner nearly got eaten by Ymir, until Marcel sacrificed himself to save the Armored Titan. After that, Reiner convinced Bertholdt and Annie to continue their mission. If it weren’t for them following him, Annie wouldn’t have brought the titans to Shiganshina and Bertholdt wouldn’t have broken down the wall. Once they did their jobs, Reiner charged into Wall Maria, allowing the Eldians in Paradis to lose one-third of their land.
5 Reiner Helped Defeat The Mid-East Allied Forces
After his battle with the Survey Corps, Reiner and the other warriors fought the Mid-East Allied Forces. Reiner played an important role at the end of this war by attacking both his enemies and their weapons with Porco. After that, Reiner used himself as a shield for Zeke, who destroyed the Mid-East Allied Forces’ navy, bringing an end to their war.
4 He Became A Warrior Candidate
When Reiner was a child, it was his dream to become a warrior for Marley so he could be seen as a hero and his family could be reunited. Unfortunately, he didn’t have a lot of the skills that seemed necessary to become a warrior, such as being strong or smart. However, he was incredibly loyal, which Marley recognized, allowing him to become a warrior candidate and take one step closer to having his dream come true.
3 Reiner Inherited The Armored Titan
While Reiner may have been the least likely to inherit one of the Nine Titans out of all of the warrior candidates, Marcel convinced Marley that Porco was worse. As a result, Reiner was chosen to become the Armored Titan, giving him exactly what he wanted.
When Marcel confessed the truth and apologized to Reiner, he was confused, not yet understanding how much more difficult his life would become by being a warrior. However, despite all of the things he ended up going through, Reiner was able to prove that he was worthy of inheriting the Armored Titan over the years.
2 He Saved The World
After Eren began the Rumbling, Reiner and the other warriors understood that they needed to join forces with the Survey Corps if they were going to save the world. It took a while, but they eventually caught up to Eren. Once the battle began, the warriors and soldiers had to fight against the titan shifters of the past who Eren was able to control. Luckily, Armin and Zeke were able to grant the titan shifters their freedom, allowing most of Eren’s opponents to focus on fighting him. Reiner was one of the few who didn’t concentrate on attacking Eren, as he tried to hold the Source of All Living Matter back instead, preventing it from coming into contact with Eren again. After Eren died, Ymir Fritz got rid of the titans’ existence, resulting in the disappearance of both the Source of All Living Matter and Reiner’s powers.
1 He Was Able To Live In Peace
After the Rumbling ended and Eren was defeated, Ymir Fritz got rid of all of the titans, making it so Eldians were no different from any other race. Without his titanic abilities and the Curse of Ymir, Reiner was able to live his life with Annie, Pieck, Armin, Connie, and Jean as they tried to make the world more peaceful. Reiner had a new purpose to live and was happier being able to do what he wanted, which is a greater accomplishment than everything he achieved as a warrior.
