Will Poulter Is the MCU’s Next Hero – or Massive Threat – in Dazzling Fan Art

Will Poulter, who is set to feature in the upcoming film Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, shines in an impressive piece of Adam Warlock fan art.

Created by Instagram user @spdrmnkyxxiii, the beautifully detailed work of art depicts what Will Poulter could look like in his upcoming role as Adam Warlock. While Poulter’s character has not been confirmed to be a protagonist or a villain just yet, this piece of fan art gives the actor a menacing look with piercing golden eyes and robotic-looking skin (akin to that of Vision). It also takes inspiration from Warlock’s look in the comics, where the character has signature golden skin.

Created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby, Adam Warlock first appeared in the 1967 comic Fantastic Four #66 as “Him.” Warlock was created by a group of researchers called the Enclave, whose goal was to create a perfect and all-powerful human being. Some of his superpowers in the comics include flight, telepathy, energy manipulation and superhuman agility.

The character of Adam Warlock was first teased in the Marvel Cinematic Universe during the post-credits scene of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2. The scene features the High Priestess of the Sovereign, Ayesha, creating a perfect being in a birth pod. “That, my child, is the next step in our evolution. More powerful, more beautiful, more capable of destroying the Guardians of the Galaxy,” Ayesha threatens. If this clip is anything to go by, Poulter could potentially take on a more villainous role in the upcoming Guardians film.

Poulter joined the cast of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.3 back in October when director James Gunn confirmed the rumors on Twitter. “Welcome to the family, Will Poulter. He’s an amazing actor and a wonderful guy. See you in a couple weeks,” Gunn tweeted. Poulter responded by saying, “Thank you, James. It’s a genuine honour to play this role and to work with you. I’m very excited to get to work.”

The film’s most recent casting reveal arrived earlier this week in actor Chukwudi Iwuji, who also appears in HBO Max’s upcoming The Suicide Squad spinoff series Peacemaker. Gunn shared a photo of himself alongside Guardians of the Galaxy franchise veterans Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldaña, Dave Bautista, Karen Gillan, Pom Klementieff and Sean Gunn, as well as newcomers Poulter and Iwuji. “It’s been a strange [and] long [and] at times challenging journey to get here, but the obstacles along the way have only made this moment more blissful,” Gunn wrote. “Back on set with my Guardians family for the first day of shooting [Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3].

The film is set to hit theaters on May 5, 2023.
