Better Call Saul Season 6 Will Be Split Into Two Halves | CBR

The upcoming sixth and final season of AMC’s Breaking Bad prequel series Better Call Saul will be split into two parts.

As part of an interview with Better Call Saul star Rhea Seehorn, Variety confirmed that Season 6 will “air over two halves.” This revelation is sure to evoke memories of Breaking Bad, which split its own fifth and final season into two parts. It was previously confirmed that Better Call Saul Season 6 would consist of 13 episodes, meaning the prequel’s final season will also be its longest.

Seehorn remained tight-lipped regarding Better Call Saul Season 6’s “deep dark secrets,” such as when the show wraps, if she herself is still shooting and if her character, Kim Wexler, will live to see the end of the series (considering the fact that she was not in Breaking Bad). However, Seehorn did offer a positive update on co-star Bob Odenkirk — who suffered a heart attack on the show’s set back in July — saying that the actor is “doing amazing.”

Seehorn continued, “And like I said, whether I’m in scripts or not, I get to read them and I can tell you that this season is insane. It’s going to blow people’s minds. I can’t wait for it to come out.” That being said, it still remains to be seen exactly when Better Call Saul‘s final season will premiere on AMC (though it’s expected to arrive in sometime in early 2022).

Better Call Saul‘s predecessor, Breaking Bad, initially aired on AMC for five seasons from 2008 to 2013. Its first season was seven episodes long, while Seasons 2-4 ran for 13 episodes each. Season 5 was the longest at 16 episodes. However, Season 5 was split into two, eight-episode parts. Season 5A, promoted as “Season 5,” aired in 2012. Meanwhile, Season 5B, promoted as “The Final Season,” didn’t arrive until one year later. A follow-up feature film, El Camino: A Breaking Bad Movie, premiered on Netflix in 2019.

Conversely, though, Better Call Saul — which premiered in 2015 — has been far more uniform in its episode counts up until this point. The show’s first five seasons ran for exactly 10 episodes each. At 13 episodes, the upcoming sixth and final season is the first to break this trend. Given its odd numbered-episode count, it remains to be seen how Better Call Saul Season 6 will be broken up, as well as how long the hiatus between its two parts will be.

Better Call Saul stars Odenkirk as Jimmy McGill/Saul Goodman, Seehorn as Kim Wexler, Jonathan Banks as Mike Ehrmantraut, Patrick Fabian as Howard Hamlin, Michael Mando as Nacho Varga, Giancarlo Esposito as Gus Fring and Tony Dalton as Lalo Salamanca, with the show’s first three seasons starring Michael McKean as Chuck McGill. Odenkirk, Banks and Esposito reprise their respective roles from Breaking Bad.

Better Call Saul Season 6 does not currently have a premiere date.
