Star Wars: Disney+ Drops First Book of Boba Fett Trailer | CBR

Disney+ dropped the first official trailer for The Book of Boba Fett.

The trailer begins on Tatooine as Boba Fett dons his helmet and declares that he’s not a bounty hunter. It then cuts to Boba and Fennec Shand speaking with an Ithorian, who “sits on the throne of [his] former employer.” “Jabba ruled with fear,” Boba says. “I intend to rule with respect.” This leads to Boba attempting to unite the various underworld factions under his own rule, and the trailer ends with him encouraging his new subordinates to speak freely.

The Book of Boba Fett was announced with a post-credits stinger following the Season 2 finale of The Mandalorian. The scene featured Boba Fett returning to the palace of Jabba the Hutt, who died in Return of the Jedi, only to execute Bib Fortuna and claim Jabba’s throne as his own. Standing by his side was Fennec Shand, whom he saved after she was left for dead in Season 1 of The Mandalorian.

Spearheading The Book of Boba Fett is Robert Rodriguez, who directed the Season 2 episode of The Mandalorian that brought Fett back into the picture. “[I] can’t say anything about it at all right now, but it’s coming out in December… Wait until you see what’s coming,” Rodriguez teased in August. Rodriguez will be joined in the director’s chair Mandalorian mainstays such as Jon Favreau, Dave Filoni and Bryce Dallas Howard. Favreau, Filoni and Rodriguez also serve as executive producers, along with Colin Wilson and Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy.

“I’ve been friends with [Jon Favreau] for a long time and I wrote him after the third episode. I would send him emails from back in the day saying my kids loved Zathura and they would watch it over and over again,” Rodriguez told CBR this past summer. “I’d always be sending him fan mail, so I sent him fan mail about this Mandalorian episode, like, ‘Man, another one out of the park! Kickass job!’ And he said, ‘Actually, can I call you? I just lost one of my directors. Do you want to come to bring some of that Alita magic?'”

The Book of Boba Fett premieres Dec. 29 on Disney+.
