Nobody Sleeps in the Woods Tonight 2’s Ending, Explained | CBR

WARNING: The following contains spoilers for Nobody Sleeps in the Woods Tonight 2, now streaming on Netflix.

Nobody Sleeps in the Woods Tonight 2 deviates a lot from the original, with this sequel turning into a romantic story in its final act as opposed to a brutal rampage a la The Hills Have Eyes. Zosia (Julia Wieniawa-Narkiewicz), the heroine from the first film, has been infected by the meteorite’s black goo, and turns Adam (Mateusz Wieclawek) into an alien mutant too as she believes he’s her soulmate. They begin plotting the apocalypse, which leads to a gory ending as they find domestic trouble lingering in paradise.

What Happens To Adam and Zosia’s Love?

After Zosia goads Adam into his first kill — an animal abuser — they make love and head to the police station where Adam works. Zosia wants to free the mutated brothers from the first film, so they can help them take over the Polish town, then the world. However, it goes awry when Adam can’t kill the cop he had a crush on, Wanessa.

She constantly bullied him, making him feel inferior and even threw him to the wolves so Zosia could feed on him while she fled to the precinct. Thus, it angers Zosia that Adam can’t murder her as Wanessa embodies all the evil in mankind she hates. As such, Zosia grabs her, rips her face off and then accuses Adam of cheating. She thinks he’s still in love with Wanessa, before stomping her head in and leaving the station, heartbroken.

What Happens When Zosia Breaks Up With Adam?

It’s essentially her way of breaking up with Adam but as he chases after her, tragedy strikes. That’s because Zosia gets run over by the special ops forces that Wanessa called for earlier. The armored vans squish her into bits in the street, leaving Adam heartbroken, dropping to his knees and crying.

He’s in immense pain as he finally found someone to love him for him. More so, he didn’t want her to die a merciless, unforgiving death like this and feels responsible as he was the one who pushed her away. He gives himself up out of guilt, allowing the soldiers to chain him up and throw him in the back of the van.

What Happens To Adam and The Mutated Brothers?

Oddly enough, Wanessa did try to blow Adam and Zosia up with a grenade earlier on in a firefight, but it didn’t detonate. One of the mutated brothers finds it, though, as he drags himself out of the open cell door Zosia left, picking it up. He thinks it’s a toy and as he looks at his tired sibling, it’s clear he’s going to pull the pin for entertainment.

There are gas tanks around, leading to the precinct being blown up, giving the impression that the brothers go up in flames. We don’t see them again as the film ends with the entourage taking Adam away. He laments everything he caused, honestly taking on a lot more blame than he should. The vans head into the city as the sun rises, hinting that an even darker fate awaits Adam once the government gets its hands on him.

See how Adam and Zosia’s alien love story comes to a fiery end in Nobody Sleeps in the Woods Tonight 2, now streaming on Netflix.
