The MCU is home to many colorful superheroes of all types, and a recent addition to the franchise is the Chinese warrior Shang-Chi, trained by his father Wenwu to become the ultimate assassin and martial artist. Shang-Chi has since surpassed his ancient father, and he’s also inherited the Ten Rings, incredible artifacts of war. He’s ready for a new challenge.
Shang-Chi wouldn’t mind taking on opponents from other franchises, and he’ll even explore animated worlds to find worthy foes to test himself and the rings. This time, he’ll embark on an isekai adventure to the world of That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime, and challenge everyone to a friendly and fair battle to see who’s stronger. How many foes can Shang-Chi take down in this fantasy world?
10 SHANG-CHI CAN DEFEAT: Gobta Isn’t That Strong Yet
Shang-Chi can warm up with Gobta the goblin, so he can get a feel for how the people in the Slime world fight. Gobta may be one of Rimuru’s friends, but he does not rank among the characters who can rival Rimuru in strength. Not even close, in fact.
It’s true that Gobta is stronger and smarter than he looks, and he is a brave trainee swordsman. However, he is far from ready to fight the elite martial artist Shang-Chi, and he has no defenses against the Ten Rings attacking him from all directions.
9 SHANG-CHI CAN’T DEFEAT: Souei Is A Fantasy Ninja
Souei is an anime ninja who can really push Shang-Chi to the limit. While Shang-Chi is also a trained assassin, Souei has a few key advantages, such as his superior speed and his ability to make clones of himself. He can also appear and disappear from shadows, something Shang-Chi cannot do.
Shang-Chi can last a while against Souei, but not even he is ready for Souei’s ability to combine elite martial arts and ninja tactics with fantasy like this. Souei could slip past Shang-Chi’s defenses, hold a knife to his throat, and demand surrender.
8 SHANG-CHI CAN DEFEAT: Princess Shuna’s Spells Are Too Slow
The gentle and sweet princess Shuna is much more powerful than she looks, and she can wield holy magic in battle. That’s how she defeated the skeleton mage Adalman all on her own, and she can even vaporize her foes with the Disintegration spell. In theory, she could crush Shang-Chi with that magic.
In practice, though, Shuna won’t get a chance to cast her magic. Once her fight with Shang-Chi begins, Shang-Chi can throw the rings to harm and disorient Shuna, and break her concentration. Shang-Chi can then finish her off before a single holy spell is cast.
7 SHANG-CHI CAN’T DEFEAT: Demon Lord Milim Nava Is A Monster
Shang-Chi wouldn’t know what to make of Demon Lord Milim Nava if he met her. Everyone else seems to respect or even fear her, but Milim looks like a petite troublemaker with a fondness for snacks. He would soon learn just how powerful Milim can be.
In a fight, Milim could use her titanic strength to swat aside the Ten Rings, and she would have nothing to fear from Shang-Chi’s martial arts, either. She could then blow him away with her Drago Buster move, something Shang-Chi isn’t ready to defend against.
6 SHANG-CHI CAN DEFEAT: Ranga Is A Battle-Ready Wolf
Ranga is a powerful wolf who is also Rimuru’s personal mount. He received a major upgrade when he received his name, and he became intensely loyal to Rimuru. For the most part, Ranga is happy to serve as Rimuru’s personal transport, but he can also fight.
In battle, Ranga can use electric attacks, and he can pounce and bite like any other wolf. Shang-Chi would be impressed, but he’s not going to lose to a giant hound. His Rings will pummel Ranga into surrendering before long.
5 SHANG-CHI CAN’T DEFEAT: Hinata Sakaguchi Has A Special Sword
The imperial knight commander Hinata Sakaguchi may not have the raw firepower of the Ten Rings, but she does have the Dead End Rainbow sword, which has the astonishing ability to slice the enemy’s soul directly. Seven blows will slay the soul, and nothing can defend against it.
Hinata can narrowly avoid the Ten Rings during this duel thanks to her training and advanced technique, and then she can deliver seven blows to Shang-Chi’s soul and kill him. Even if that didn’t work, she could take her chance to cast the Disintegration spell to crush him, and unlike Shuna, Hinata could find the time to cast it.
4 SHANG-CHI CAN DEFEAT: Suphia Isn’t On Shang-Chi’s Level
Suphia is one of the three Beastketeers, and she is a ferocious melee fighter who clashes with Shion early in Season 2. She is quick, agile, and aggressive like any tigress, and she fears no enemy. She isn’t prepared for a serious duel with Shang-Chi, though.
Suphia could roughly keep up with Shang-Chi’s martial arts, but unfortunately for her, Shang-Chi can quickly up the ante from there. His rings can augment his punches to blast Suphia away, or he could strike her from all directions or even attack her with powerful energy blasts.
3 SHANG-CHI CAN’T DEFEAT: Rimuru Tempest Is Far Beyond His Abilities
Shang-Chi could challenge Rimuru Tempest to a duel, and Rimuru would likely refuse since the slime hero doesn’t fight people without a good reason. But Shang-Chi wants a real challenge, and Rimuru would appreciate his warrior spirit.
Rimuru has countless abilities on offense and defense, and with them, he can block any of Shang-Chi’s attacks and hit back with a variety of spells, such as lightning and water blades. Eventually, he will tie Shang-Chi up with steely spider threads and claim victory.
2 SHANG-CHI CAN DEFEAT: Grucius Merely Fights With Knives
Grucius is a member of the Animal Kingdom of Eurazania, and he accompanies the three Beastketeers on that trip to Rimuru’s territory. As a beastman, Grucius is much faster, stronger, and tougher than ordinary humans, and he can fight with two short swords.
That’s not bad, but it’s not enough to take on Shang-Chi, who has the benefit of elite martial arts and the Ten Rings. The Rings can easily block anything Grucius can throw at Shang-Chi, and then the rings could either pummel him or simply lift him into the air where he’s helpless.
1 SHANG-CHI CAN’T DEFEAT: Veldora Is A Mighty Dragon
Veldora was once a storm dragon, the scourge of the earth, and then the masked Hero sealed him in a cave. He remained there for 300 years until Rimuru Tempest met and absorbed him, and later, Veldora was reborn in a humanoid body.
Veldora is enormously powerful, roughly on Milim’s level, and he can even fire devastating energy blasts. Shang-Chi could fight back fairly well, but he is unlikely to overpower an ancient dragon like this. He and the Ten Rings will get blown away.
