Each and every month, PlayStation Plus subscribers get access to several new games that are theirs to keep for as long as they’re signed up for the service, which retails for $59.99 per year. October saw Sony giving subscribers three games: Mortal Kombat X, PGA Tour 2K21 and Hell Let Loose. For November, they’ll get three more: Knockout City, First Class Trouble and Kingdoms of Amalur: Re-Reckoning.
Here’s what you need to know about Knockout City, First Class Trouble and Kingdoms of Amalur: Re-Reckoning.
Knockout City
Available on PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4, 2021’s Knockout City is a multiplayer game developed by Velan Studios and published by Electonic Arts. The game is, essentially, a take on dodgeball. Players eliminate each other by hitting them with balls. In the case of Knockout City, there are a number of different types of balls.
The PlayStation 4 version of Knockout City holds a solid 80 on Metacritic. Reviews note the game is easy to learn and fun. However, at launch, Knockout City had some technical issues and lacked game modes.
First Class Trouble
Developed by Invisible Walls and published by Versus Evil, 2021’s First Class Trouble is a social deduction game, like 2018’s Among Us. In the game, players find themselves aboard a space cruiser. While First Class Trouble‘s regular passengers — called Residents — attempt to stop the ship’s A.I., which has gone rogue, they find themselves at odds with the Personoids.
At the time of writing, there are no reviews for either the PlayStation 4 or PlayStation 5 versions of First Class Trouble. However, the game is available in early access on Steam. There, the reviews are mostly positive at 79 percent. Players note that First Class Trouble can be a lot of fun, but it’s occasionally frustrating due to mechanical problems and glitches.
Kingdoms of Amalur: Re-Reckoning
The remastered version of 2012’s Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning, 2020’s Kingdoms of Amalur: Re-Reckoning is a fantasy action role-playing game. Featuring the talents of Ken Rolston, R.A. Salvatore, Todd McFarlane and Grant Kirkhope, Kingdoms of Amalur allows players to build characters based on classic fantasy archetypes as they unlock the secrets of the titular region.
The PlayStation 4 version of Kingdoms of Amalur: Re-Reckoning holds a 72 on Metacritic. For the most part, critics praised the remaster, though note that it doesn’t go far enough in fixing the problems of the original game. Still, the various versions of the original Kingdoms of Amalur are in the low-80s on Metacritic.
How Did PS Plus Subscribers Make Out in November?
While the last few months of PlayStation Plus have been a bit rough, November is pretty solid. Knockout City and First Class Trouble will definitely be helped by the influx of new players, and so they’re likely to eat up a chunk of time, even if they might not necessarily end up on anyone’s best games ever list. Kingdoms of Amalur is also considered a pretty underrated action-RPG, so this month presents a good chance to go through an overlooked gem.
Mortal Kombat X, PGA Tour 2K21 and Hell Let Loose are available until Nov. 1.Knockout City, First Class Trouble and Kingdoms of Amalur: Re-Reckoning will be available from Nov. 2 until Dec. 6.
