Dragon Ball Xenoverse fans are calling on publisher Bandai Namco to release a third game for the open-world fighting-game RPG.
Following the observation that Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 recently celebrated its fifth anniversary, dedicated players of the series took to social media to campaign for a threequel. While the most recent entry in the franchise is still receiving consistent updates, DLC bundles and patches, many are asking developer Dimps to instead focus its resources on an entirely new game.
The recent rush to bring Xenoverse 3 to life seems to have been sparked by Twitter user and Dragon Ball super fan @Burcol. After tweeting directly at Bandai Namco, the series’ publisher responded by writing, “For real though. I do really hope our dreams come true and we eventually get a sequel that we all want so much :D.” While not necessarily confirming a new game, many followers were simply pleased to hear Xenoverse 3 be acknowledged in some form.
Some fans speculate that a third game is not in development due to the release of games like Dragon Ball FighterZ or Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot potentially signaling a movement away from the Xenoverse brand. That hasn’t slowed the campaign as more and more players lend their voices to the cause.
If #Xenoverse3 does happen all I want is:
-A good looking super saiyan 4 transformation
-DB Heroes content
-A bigger focus on non saiyan races
-Beam/melee clashes
-Color customizable clothes
-Better customization options for CACs
-Moveable tails pic.twitter.com/fkplW8QXmZ— Twister 🌪 (@MrTwister427) October 27, 2021
The original Dragon Ball Xenoverse was released in 2015 and featured an original take on the franchise. Players are able to design and create their own character, growing their abilities and skills as they experience iconic Dragon Ball Z moments through a unique perspective. Xenoverse 2 was released a year later in 2016 and expanded on the mechanics and concepts of the first game. The sequel received generally positive reviews for its stylish visuals and gameplay while some felt the loop to be too repetitive.
Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 is available on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, PC and Google Stadia.
