James Michael Tyler, known for his portrayal of Gunther on the American sitcom Friends, has passed away.
According to Variety, the actor died peacefully in his Los Angeles home on Sunday morning, Oct. 24. The cause was determined to be a result of Tyler’s battle with prostate cancer, having been diagnosed with an advanced case back in 2018. The actor was just 59 years old.
His role as Gunther began on Friends in the series’ very first season and second episode, going on to reprise the fan-favorite role in a recurring capacity throughout the series.
