The gory glory of John Carpenter’s iconic franchise has long been its increasingly large body counts. Each Halloween film has seen Michael Myers find new and exciting ways to dispatch his victims, and Halloween Kills ups the ante in almost every aspect when it comes to the brutal murders.
The boiler suit-wearing baddie earned his spot on horror’s Mount Rushmore decades ago, yet he hasn’t slowed down in his relentless pursuit of blood and gore in the years since. Fright fans watch Michael Myers for the thrills, and Halloween Kills certainly doesn’t disappoint, with multiple deaths throughout the movie pushing the boundaries when it comes to on-screen slaughter.
WARNING: The following article contains spoilers for Halloween Kills.
10 The Fireman Chainsaw Massacre
The Halloween franchise has had its fair share of humorous demises over the years, with characters whose entire purpose seemingly revolves around existing simply as something for Michael Myers to dismember.
Halloween Kills kicks off Michael’s revival with a gloriously gruesome takedown of a team of firefighters, the highlight of which sees John Carpenter’s greatest villain take a chainsaw to work on one of the firemen.
9 Fans Finally Say Goodbye To Nurse Marion
A legend within the slasher series, her appearance in Myers’ latest outing marks Marion Chambers’ fourth Halloween movie. Nancy Stephens’ iconic nurse has even died before, in the now-retconned Halloween H20: 20 Years Later.
Halloween Kills has Marion courageously seeking out the deranged serial killer, and that which she seeks she certainly finds. Myers gets the jump on Chambers and her accomplices, and even with death staring her in the face, Nurse Chambers goes out swinging, sinking every last bullet she has into the boogeyman before being stabbed to death.
8 Sondra Gets A Shock In The Form Of A Light Fixture Through The Neck
Part of what makes Michael Myers so utterly terrifying is his ability to turn any old object into a murder weapon. Poor old Sondra, an elderly lady living a quiet life with her husband, finds this out in a most electrifying way.
Haddonfield’s boogeyman rips out a light fixture and proceeds to ram it through the innocent woman’s neck, leaving little to the imagination when it comes to blood and gore. Talk about lighting up the movie screen.
7 Old Man Phil Plays Pincushion For Michael Myers
Sadly Sondra isn’t the only victim in the aging couple’s household, as husband Phil makes the honorable yet ill-advised decision to stick around even when his wife has been brutally attacked.
Phil has his head smashed, then is bent over the dinner table to play human pin cushion for Michael Myers’ knives. Sondra is somehow still alive at this point, and her having to watch such horror play out gives audiences all the more reason to watch this scene through the gaps in their fingers.
6 It’s Unlikely That Marcus Saw That Coming
Unlike many of the victims in Halloween Kills, Marcus the nurse had no prior history with the hulking masked madman. This makes his joining the fight arguably both brave and stupid, and this would be a case of the man starting as he meant to go on.
Trapped in a car with the boogeyman himself, Marcus boldly brandishes his stethoscope and attempts to choke Michael Myers. For his trouble, he receives a knife through the eye. No matter what his profession, there’s simply no patching that up.
5 It Was Curiosity That Killed Karen
Survival apparently isn’t in the Strode genes, as Halloween Kills’ shock ending sees Judy Greer offed in true slasher fashion with a relentlessly violent stabbing. After rather incredibly believing Michael to be defeated once and for all, Karen takes a tour upstairs of the Myers home, and it doesn’t end with an exit through the gift shop.
Laurie’s daughter’s death is both unexpected and upsetting, yet more importantly, it’s characteristically gruesome of the Halloween franchise that John Carpenter started over 40 years ago.
4 The Residents’ Accusation Of An Escaped Convict Ultimately Falls Flat
A gruesome death not directly caused by Halloween’s big bad is a rarity in slashers’ most iconic franchise, yet Halloween Kills features one of the saddest and ultimately avoidable examples.
After being mistaken for Myers despite being nowhere near the size of the Haddonfield boogeyman, escaped convict Lance Tovoli is pursued by a raging mob of townspeople desperate for his blood. He sees a high floor window as his only way out, and the long drop down ensures this man ends up as little more than a pavement pancake when it’s all said and done.
3 Michael Myers Hits A Home Run On Tommy’s Head
Viewers need not be horror aficionados in order to figure out that an old wooden baseball bat would be of little use in the ultimate fight against evil. Michael Myers has withstood insane amounts of punishment over the years, and despite Tommy Doyle being well versed on all things Myers, he still chose to ride into battle with nothing more than Old Huckleberry.
A massive swing and a miss it would be, as Tommy Doyle’s end came quickly after the downed boiler suit boogeyman rose to the occasion, stabbed Tommy, and snatched his baseball bat. Evil did not end that night, but Tommy’s life certainly did by way of a brutal brain-bashing.
2 Cameron Learns Why Parents Always Tell You Not To Play On The Stairs
Cameron can blame his untimely death on his fearless father, as Lonnie decides to enter the Myers’ home and leave his son in the car, Cameron has no choice but to investigate after his dad doesn’t return.
It doesn’t take long for one of horror’s most iconic baddies to catch up to the young intruder, Myers takes hold of Cameron and brutally introduces him to the stairwell’s banister. He does this multiple times, with each excruciating encounter easing Cameron’s head a little further from his shoulders.
1 Big John Meets A Hair-Raising, Skull-Crushing End
Big John will certainly be wishing he’d had found a bigger knife upon learning of an intruder in his home. The fact he and his partner Little John chose to live in the Myers’ house in the first place should’ve given them fair warning that terror would find its way inside the walls.
In a move macabre enough to make The Mountain of Game of Thrones wince, Michael Myers grabs Big John’s skull and crushes through the eyeballs until the whole head pops like a pounded piñata. It’s not just the most brutal death in Halloween Kills, it’s one of Michael Myers’ most jaw-dropping murders in general.
