A new line of action figures from McFarlane Toys revealed a key Catwoman detail that was missing from the trailers for The Batman.
McFarlane Toys’ upcoming line of The Batman action figures presents Zoë Kravitz’s Catwoman wielding the character’s signature weapon. The figure, which depicts Selina Kyle in her full costume, cat ears mask included, also includes Catwoman’s signature whip which has appeared throughout a variety of interpretations of the character, including film, comics and video games. However, until now, Selina Kyle has not been shown brandishing her whip in any trailers for Matt Reeves’ upcoming The Batman film.
The McFarlane Toys Catwoman figure stands at seven inches tall and is currently available for pre-order for the price of $19.99. She boasts up to 22 points of articulation and, as her figure is modeled after Kravtiz’s portrayal in The Batman, the character’s whip will likely appear on the big screen. The action figure also comes with a collectible art card in the box.
Trailers for the film have shown Kravitz demonstrating a variety of Catwoman’s skills, such as proficiency in martial arts and a knack for fearlessly leaping from rooftops. Selina can even be seen exploiting her talents for disguise, appearing to use various wigs to infiltrate locations without her costume. The recent trailer, unveiled at 2021’s DC FanDome, even showed the character carrying a gun, but so far she has been without her whip.
The product description on the McFarlane Toys website provided some more information on the character as she intends to appear in the film. It describes Selina Kyle as “a mysterious figure who is quietly infiltrating Gotham’s seedy underbelly to further her own agenda. Her fierce attitude and tenacious agility are the perfect tools to excel as a cat burglar, but hidden underneath the array of identities and the motorcycle leathers is a protective soul who’s more at home with the city’s strays than its citizens.”
By contrast, fans have already glimpsed a fair amount of Robert Pattinson’s arsenal as the Caped Crusader. Trailers have already given fans a sneak peek at the grappling hook in action, which is included with The Batman’s McFarlane Toys action figure. The trailer also showed off what appeared to be a taser in his gloves, as well as the impressive durability of his bullet-resistant armor. His iconic Batmobile was also on full display in the recent trailer, yet his signature batarangs have yet to make an appearance.
The action figures are scheduled for release in January 2022 ahead of the film’s theatrical debut. The figures, which include Batman, Catwoman and the Riddler, will be sold for $19.99, while the Batcycle is priced at $29.99.
The Batman arrives in theaters on March 4, 2022.
