Batwoman’s Ruby Rose Alleges Co-Star Dougray Scott Abused Women on Set

Former Batwoman star Ruby Rose accused Jacob Kane actor Dougray Scott of abusing women on the set of the CW Arrowverse series. CBR reached out to The CW for comment but has not received a response as of publication.

In a multilayered Instagram story detailing her horrific experience on the set of Batwoman, Rose wrote, “Dougray hurt a female stunt double he yelled like a little bitch at women and was a nightmare. He left when he wanted and arrived when he wanted he abused women and in turn as a lead of a show i sent an email out asking for a no yelling policy, they declined..”

Rose’s remarks about Scott were part of a lengthy account regarding what prompted her to leave Batwoman after Season 1. She also called out showrunner Caroline Dries, former Warner Bros. Television Group Chairman Peter Roth and Bertalnti Proudctions’ Greg Berlanti and Sarah Schechter. In the case of Dries, Rose wrote that she “has no heart” and that, in addition to refusing to shut down during the COVID-19 pandemic, she “maybe visited the set 4 times in a year… UNHEARD OF..” As for Roth, Rose suggested he “left after getting promoted to the highest position because you couldn’t stop making young women steam your pants, around your crotch while you were still wearing said pants or if you left after putting a private investigator on me who you fired as soon as the report didn’t fit your narrative.”

I addition to these comments, Rose discussed not only her own on-set injuries but an incident that left a production assistant paralyzed from the neck down and another that left a crew member with “3rd degree burns over his whole body,” noting how the cast and crew were “given no therapy after witnessing his skin fall off his face.”

Like Rose, Scott has since exited Batwoman, having played the father to Rose’s Kate Kane for two seasons. “Having Dougray Scott as Jacob Kane on Batwoman was incredibly special for all of us,” Dries said when Scott’s departure was announced. “An actor with his pedigree and reputation elevates any project, and he had great chemistry with his castmates. We loved telling Commander Kane’s story for the last two seasons, and we will always leave the door open to have him return. We wish him the very best!”

Rose left Batwoman in May 2020 and was replaced essentially twice; once by Javicia Leslie as new Batwoman Ryan Wilder and then by Krypton star Wallis Day, who played Kate Kane for several episodes in Season 2.
