The Batman Action Figures Come to McFarlane Toys’ DC Multiverse Line

McFarlane Toys has revealed its first wave of action figures from DC’s upcoming film, The Batman.

Fresh off of the release of the new trailer for The Batman, McFarlane Toys has unveiled its first wave of action figures based on the film. These toys are scheduled to come out in January 2022, roughly two months before Matt Reeves’s The Batman hits theaters. The MSRP for the figures is $19.99, while the vehicle will retail for $29.99.

The Batman, a young Dark Knight who must defend Gotham City from the Riddler’s wave of terror. The Batman action figure is based on the likeness of Robert Pattinson, and will come equipped with a grappling gun accessory. Paul Dano will be playing the Riddler, whose action figure comes with a small shovel. The action figure of Zoë Kravitz as Catwoman provides fans with a new look at the feline femme fatale, complete with a malleable whip accessory. Lastly, the wave will include Batman’s Batcycle in an individual release. All of the figures will be packed with display stands and their own trading cards.

In addition to these figures, McFarlane Toys will be producing collectible statues based on The Batman. At DC FanDome, Todd McFarlane announced that these collectibles will be released under the branding of DC Direct. DC Direct was originally an in-house company used by DC Comics to produce its own line of premium action figures and collectibles, but will now continue under the management of McFarlane Toys. Speaking on his process of creating these collectibles, McFarlane said that they are “based on the concepts and the costume and the reference that was given to us directly from the producers and the director so that we’re gonna make it as authentic as possible.” The resurrected DC Direct will also be producing statues under the lines of Batman: Black & White,  Harley Quinn: Black, White & Red and the DC Designer Series.

Since the beginning of its partnership with DC Comics, McFarlane Toys has produced a wide variety of Batman-themed figures, drawing inspiration from the caped crusader’s various appearances across media. Recently, the company unveiled a new action figure of Batman with their largest cape ever, based on art from Batman: Year Two.

McFarlane Toys was founded in 1994 by Todd McFarlane to create premium toys and collectibles for adult collectors. The company began by producing figures from McFarlane’s popular Spawn comic book series. Today, it manufactures good based on comic books, TV shows and movies. McFarlane Toys recently announced that they will be releasing a line of action figures based on The Princess Bride, as well as the animated Nickelodeon series Avatar: The Last Airbender.
