Hidden villages were created all across the Naruto world following a tumultuous period where the ninja clans were at each other’s throats, known as the Warring States Era. This period ended when Hashirama Senju joined hands with Madara Uchiha and together, the two created a place where kids wouldn’t have to go to war anymore.
Madara Uchiha named the place Konohagakure. Seeing Konohagakure flourish, the neighboring countries also adopted the model, and thus, the birth of the hidden villages took place, every single one of which was home to some of the strongest characters seen in the story.
9 Takigakure Was Home To Two Of The Strongest Shinobi
Takigakure is a small village when compared to the likes of Konohagakure, however, over the years, the village produced some decent shinobi. Kakuzu, a member of the Akatsuki, was a shinobi of this village.
At some point, the elders of the village ordered him to kill Hashirama Senju, a task he failed, but he survived. The village was also home to the Forbidden Jutsu called Earth Grudge Fear, which Kakuzu stole. Other than him, Fu, the Jinchuriki of Chomei, the Seven-Tails, also belonged to this village.
8 Otogakure Was Created By One Of The Legendary Sannin
Otogakure came to be when Orochimaru defected from Konohagakure after his experiments were finally found out by Hiruzen Sarutobi. In time, he created his own hidden village, which was quite powerful.
Otogakure was home to the Sound Four, all of whom were strong enough to take on a Jonin in battle. Furthermore, Kabuto Yakushi and Orochimaru were two more shinobi who belonged to this place, making it one of the strongest villages in the entire story.
7 Uzushiogakure Was The Home Of The Uzumaki Clan
Uzushiogakure was once a famous shinobi village that existed in the Naruto world. The Uzumaki clan lived there and practiced all sorts of Jutsu, especially Fuinjutsu. Their skill in this art was such that even Hashirama Senju, the First Hokage of Konohagakure, sought help from them from time to time.
Mito Uzumaki also likely came from this village and when Kushina Uzumaki was young, she was brought to Konohagakure from Uzushiogakure. Sadly, this village was destroyed by its neighboring countries due to fears of them growing too powerful.
6 Amegakure Was Small Yet A Powerful Shinobi Village
Amegakure played a huge role in Naruto as it was the battlefield for the Second Great Ninja War. The constant wars that ravaged this land led to the rise of powerful shinobi from this village, such as Hanzo the Salamander. Hanzo was strong enough to fight and defeat all the Legendary Sannin members at once.
After Hanzo, Amegakure saw the rise of the Akatsuki, at the helm of which were Nagato Uzumaki, Yahiko, and Konan. Amegakure has weakened since then, but in its prime, it was quite a powerful village.
5 Kirigakure Has Stabilized Over The Past Few Decades
Kirigakure is one of the five major shinobi villages but also the weakest of the lot because of a rough period it had to endure under the Fourth Mizukage. After his era, Mei Terumi did everything in her power to transform it into a strong village.
Her successor, Chojuro, has done a great job as the Sixth Mizukage. Kirigakure is home to the likes of Kagura Karatachi, and at the same time, holds the mighty blades of the Seven Swordsmen as well.
4 Iwagakure Has Remained Sturdy As A Rock Over The Years
Iwagakure was led by Onoki, the Third Tsuchikage, until the end of the Fourth Great Ninja War following which Kurotsuchi took over. Not much has changed in the village.
Iwagakure was also considered to be quite powerful. In fact, the village went toe-to-toe against Konohagakure in the Third Great Ninja War, showing how strong it truly was. Even today, Iwagakure is just as strong and is making quite a lot of progress.
3 Sunagakure Has Flourished Under Gaara’s Rule
Gaara became the Fifth Kazekage of Sunagakure shortly after the death of Rasa, his father. Under Gaara, Sunagakure has transformed into a powerful village. He led his people into the Fourth Great Ninja War, meaning most of the shinobi there are battle-hardened.
Sunagakure has strong fighters such as Kankuro, and some of the brightest minds like Shinki, among other strong next-generation ninja.
2 Kumogakure Has Progressed By Leaps & Bounds
Kumogakure was quite a powerful ninja village and it continues to hold that status right now. Other than Konohagakure, it is the only other village to have a Tailed Beast in Gyuki. The village is led by Darui, the Fifth Raikage, but the elders, such as Ay, are always available to help.
Kumogakure also has strong ninja like Omoi and Cee, but most importantly, their advancements in the field of science are incredible. Kumogakure is in possession of a chakra cannon that is powerful enough to shoot a beam capable of destroying the entire moon, as seen in The Last: Naruto the Movie.
1 Konohagakure Has Naruto Uzumaki & Sasuke Uchiha
Undoubtedly, the strongest of all the hidden villages in Naruto is Konohagakure. Over the years, the village has produced some of the strongest shinobi, such as Hiruzen Sarutobi, Minato Namikaze, and the Legendary Sannin, to name a few.
Most importantly, the village has Naruto Uzumaki and Sasuke Uchiha, two characters who are powerful enough to fend off planet busters when they’re serious. Until recently, they also had the strongest Tailed Beast at their disposal, but even without Kurama, the village is head and shoulders above the rest.
