My Hero Academia: 10 Heroes Stain Can Defeat In Battle | CBR

My Hero Academia envisions a future where superheroes are licensed professionals, and the safety of the world is in their hands. Pro Heroes use a wide variety of Quirks and items to keep villains and criminals at bay, and usually it works. But some villains and outlaws such as Stain the hero killer are one step ahead.

Stain is no ordinary bank robber or delinquent. He aims to cull the world of Pro Heroes, weeding out those who fight for glory or money rather than true justice, and he will only allow the invincible All Might to kill him. If Stain hadn’t been defeated and captured in the story, he could have tracked and assassinated many more Pro Heroes with ease.

10 Midnight Has No Defense Against Stain’s Sword

Anime My Hero Academia Nemuri Kayama Midnight Whip Challenge

Stain the hero killer relies mainly on stealth and assassination to dispatch Pro Heroes, taking them by total surprise and cutting them to activate his Bloodcurdle Quirk before killing them. In a fair fight, Stain might get captured or defeated by these Pros, but he won’t fight them on their own terms if he can help it.

Given the chance, Midnight could put Stain to sleep with her Quirk, but Stain won’t let her. He could easily stalk and assassinate her in a dark alley, and Midnight’s very thin costume would offer her zero defenses.

9 Vlad King Loses This Blood Vs. Blood Battle

Several My Hero Academia characters have blood-based Quirks, such as Himiko Toga’s Transform ability and Vlad King’s blood control Quirk. Vlad King is a competent melee fighter, and to capture villains, he can remove his blood from his body and control it in the open air.

That’s not bad, but it’s too slow to handle Stain. The hero killer can ambush Vlad King to get a blood sample, and use Bloodcurdle before Vlad King’s own sanguine Quirk comes into play. Class 1-B just lost its homeroom teacher.

8 Gang Orca Is A Fish Out Of Water

In a fair fight, Gang Orca could overpower Stain with his sonic Orcinus Quirk, since not even Stain can outrun soundwaves. It would also help if Gang Orca had his minions on hand to protect him, but Stain wouldn’t fight Gang Orca on these terms.

Instead, Stain will wait until Gang Orca has his guard down, perhaps on a hot, dry summer day when Gang Orca is slightly weaker. Then, Stain will ambush him with the usual methods, and score a bloody cut on the whale hero’s exposed head. He can finish the job soon after that.

7 Tiger’s Flexible Body Can’t Save Him

Tiger is the biggest and toughest member of the Wild, Wild Pussycats squad, and these cats all specialize in mountain search and rescue operations. They can still fight, though, and Tiger in particular isn’t afraid to get into a scrap with villains. He once fought Magne, for example.

Tiger is tough, but his abilities won’t protect him from the wrath of Stain. Not even Tiger’s Pliabody Quirk can save him from Stain’s quick blades, and Tiger will be rendered helpless in seconds. Then he’ll meet his grisly end.

6 Present Mic’s Voice Can’t Block Stain’s Blades

MHA Present Mic

Stain has an easier time defeating Pro Heroes who leave at least one part of their bodies exposed in their costumes, and it helps even more if those heroes have offensive Quirks that don’t provide physical protection against enemy attacks. Present Mic fits these criteria for Stain.

Present Mic the sonic hero will be too slow to avoid Stain’s blades, and his hands and head can all be cut. His Quirk, while loud, is also too slow to stop Stain, and not even the loudest sounds can block a knife or sword. Present Mic is doomed if Stain ever ambushes him.

5 Ms. Joke’s Quirk Can’t Protect Her From Swords

Ms. Joke is a Pro Hero and a teacher at the Ketsubutsu school, and she is also an associate of Shota Aizawa’s. As her hero name and persona would suggest, Ms. Joke is a fun-loving person whose Outburst Quirk can make her opponents laugh wildly, distracting them from the battle at hand. Ms. Joke seems to enjoy using it.

Like Present Mic and similar heroes, though, Ms. Joke relies mostly on her Quirk, and she has few defensive options – not even a helmet. Stain could easily cut her in an ambush and paralyze her, then get the last laugh on this Pro Hero.

4 Fourth Kind Has No Options Against Stain

Chivalrous hero fourth kind mha

Fourth Kind is a dedicated melee hero, and he accepted Eijiro Kirishima and Tetsutetsu Tetsutetsu as his interns at one point. Fourth Kind has four arms, which gives him the edge in hand-to-hand combat, and he has a stern and strict personality to keep his hero agency running smoothly.

Fourth Kind would struggle against villains with tricky Quirks, however, and Stain’s is the trickiest Quirk of all. Four strong arms can’t save Fourth Kind from the effects of Bloodcurdle, and he’ll get a knife to the throat without any means of fighting back.

3 Manual Won’t Stand A Chance Against Stain

Not all Pro Heroes are flashy and legendary. The Pro Hero known as Manual is fairly forgettable for the most part, and he ranks 222nd among all Japanese Pro Heroes. Still, he has a decent water-based Quirk and an inspiring personality. For a time, Tenya Iida the runner hero interned with him.

Manual can handle everyday street crime, but major villains are too much for him to handle, and Stain would have no trouble ambushing him and slashing his face to get a blood sample. Once that happens, Manual’s fate is sealed.

2 Gunhead’s Martial Arts Won’t Save Him From Stain

Gunhead is a Pro Hero who is fairly flexible in battle, even if he isn’t especially powerful. He can perform advanced CQC techniques to take down a stronger foe, which is why Ochaco Uraraka interned with him. Gunhead can also perform ranged attacks with his Gatling Quirk.

Overall, Gunhead is highly effective against low-level villains and criminals, even if he’s outnumbered, but he won’t last long against Stain. He’s much slower than Stain is, and he has plenty of exposed skin for Stain to cut. He won’t last long in this fight.

1 Mt. Lady Won’t Even See Stain Coming

Anime My Hero Academia Mt Lady Gigantification Quirk

Mt. Lady’s titanic size is both her greatest strength and her biggest weakness. At full size, Mt. Lady can easily capture vehicles or topple buildings, and she can also clear away debris and other manual labor jobs. At this size, though, she will fail to see Stain attacking her ankles.

Stain’s Quirk will bring Mt. Lady to the ground, and he will have an easy time hopping onto her neck and slashing it apart. He can cut deep enough to either paralyze or kill her, and Mt. Lady’s superhero career is now over one way or another.
