The beauty of great anime characters can make viewers’ hearts soar. This is especially true for those rare gems of characters who are just too good for this world. They shine a light in viewers’ lives, bringing a smile to fans’ faces or tears to their eyes, prompting indescribable feelings of love and affection.
These types of characters go above and beyond normal kindness, selflessness, and love, exhibiting the best traits of humanity. Sometimes these traits are obvious in characters. Other times the viewer has to wait a few episodes, looking deeper past a hardened exterior or a quiet, aloof demeanor to see the goodness within. But whether overt or hidden, every character of this title wears the good-guy tag as well as anyone could.
10 Clara Valac Is Not Your Typical Everyday Demon (Welcome to Demon School! Iruma-kun)
Viewers take one look at Clara from Welcome to Demon School! Iruma-kun and all agree that this character is too pure to be true. She’s too air-headed to even contemplate being evil! She plays, eats, goes to school, spends time with her newfound friends and her rather rambunctious family, plays some more, and repeats.
Her excessive energy is channeled completely into shining light into the world and the people around her. Whether she’s climbing up the back of the tallest students or driving Azz-kun crazy, she is pure fun to watch, without an evil bone in her body.
9 Kanna Kamui: The Queen of Kawaii (Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid)
The kawaii-est of the kawaii, Kanna-chan has captured the hearts of every fan of Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid from her first appearance in the show. Her muffled tone, limited vocabulary, and oh-so-cute tiny self make her one of the most adored little girl characters in all of anime.
How could she do any wrong? She certainly doesn’t. Not a mean word leaves her mouth, nor does any harsh thought cross her mind. Her days are filled with sweet adoration of Miss Kobayashi and expressions of childish curiosity as she learns about the human world around her.
8 Nasa Yuzaki Is One Sweet Man (Tonikawa: Over The Moon For You)
Nasa-kun from Tonikawa: Over The Moon For You is probably one of the nicest guys in anime or otherwise. He’s gentle, kind, perceptive, sensitive to others, thoughtful to a fault, and completely in love with his adorable new wife. Watching Nasa and Tsukasa is a wonderful experience, and surprisingly the guy here contributes a lot to that feeling.
Viewers will get a warm and fuzzy feeling just watching Nasa do ordinary things with Tsukasa. He exhibits a sweet combination of maturity and innocence that’s not easy to find even in other nice guy anime characters.
7 Yona-Hime’s Leadership Is Worthy Of The Greatest Respect (Yona of the Dawn)
Yona goes from a spoiled princess to a leader worthy to be queen over the course of events in Yona of the Dawn. Mighty warriors, men who wouldn’t readily follow even other men if they deemed them unworthy, fall in line behind Yona at a glance from her shining eyes and a word from her lips, willing to follow her to the ends of the earth and to the death.
They do this because they respect her. Yona commands respect through her goodness, her love for her friends, and her strength of will.
6 Asami Yuuki Is A True Friend (Higehiro)
One might not expect a gyaru type to make a list of characters who can do no wrong, but Asami Yuuki from Higehiro: After Being Rejected, I Shaved and Took in a High School Runaway was a true friend for poor Sayu when she needed a friend the most. She gives Sayu a shoulder to cry on and a friendly ear to tell her sad tale to.
She’s strangers to no one, befriending Sayu from the moment they meet as if they were childhood friends, but she also won’t hesitate to unleash her anger on those who hurt those she loves. Her exuberant personality and unvarnished opinion make her a perfect friend for the heartsore Sayu.
5 Renge Miyuchi’s Walking Book Of Wisdom That Walks (Non Non Biyori)
The embodiment of the innocence (and wisdom) of children, Renge Miyuchi, affectionately known as Renge-chon, from Non Non Biyori brings a smile to the faces of friends, family, strangers, and viewers alike. Between her childish innocence, her dully observant countenance, and her crazy sayings about the world she finds herself in, Renge is a light in the lives of both her fellow characters and adoring fans.
She will make the most pessimistic of people happy to be alive as she teachers viewers to see the world in strange and wonderful new ways!
4 Haru Nonako Shines A Light In Dark Places (Sing “Yesterday” for Me)
Sing “Yesterday” for Me may not have any singing in it, but it doesn’t need it to make Haru Nonako one of the sweetest anime characters ever created. This anime has a lot of depth in its story and characters, and within those heartfelt depths is the light that is Haru.
She lights up the hearts and minds of those around her from the moment she encounters them, helping them to face their pasts and their presents—and their futures. Her lively nature and beautiful heart will leave any viewer drenched in tears of adoration.
3 Rio Kazumiya’s Trumpet Swells Hearts & Brings Tears to The Eyes (Sound of the Sky)
Rio is probably the most military of the all-female squad of the 1121st Platoon in Sound of the Sky, often barking orders loudly at her subordinates and forcefully voicing her opinion to everyone in earshot. But beneath that somewhat hardened exterior is a goodness even purer than the clear ringing of her trumpet from the ramparts.
Her musical instruction to the ever-eager Kanata is strict but always done lovingly. Rio values her friendships above all else, remembering always in her heart that things never last forever, and influencing those around her to do the same.
2 Tae Yamada Can’t Do Wrong Because She Can’t Do Much At All (Zombie Land Saga)
Tae-chan from Zombie Land Saga is certainly too perfect for this world. She never quite fully recovers her humanity, stumbling around and muttering incomprehensibly exactly as a zombie should. She’s too dead to do any wrong.
But within that dead body glows a heart of gold. Tae-chan loves her new friends, pouring her heart and soul into her performances with them, whether she always follows the choreography or sings any of the actual words of the song or not.
1 Sasha Blouse Will Be Forever Missed (Attack on Titan)
Sasha from Attack on Titan is always getting into trouble, but mostly because she just wants to eat. Yet, in a show as dark as Attack on Titan, a character as innocent as Sasha does exist. She just wants to eat and live happily and be with her compatriots. The world of anime reacted in sadness and anger at her tragic death, but this moment brought Sasha’s purity starkly into view.
Fans realized how sweet a person she was, and that suddenly she was gone. Viewers could no longer see her hunting potatoes or scarfing down meat with more enthusiasm than should be legal for one person. Sometimes people don’t recognize the goodness of something until it’s gone, and that truly is the case with poor Sasha.
