PlayStation Plus Offers a Steep Discount on a Monthly Subscription

Sony has reduced the cost of a month-long PlayStation Plus subscription to a single dollar in a flash sale that will only last until Sep. 26.

Per a new listing on the PlayStation Store, the first month of a PS Plus subscription dropped to its dramatically low sale price, where it will remain for a few short days. Normally, Sony’s premium PlayStation Network service costs players $9.99 per month, or around $5 per month if players purchase the annual bundle. During the sale, a month-long subscription will cost only $1.00, but the deal comes with a notable caveat: The price reduction will only apply to new subscribers, not to existing ones.

For the cost of its subscription, PS Plus provides PlayStation Network users with a handful of premium features. Subscribers receive regular discounts on products in the PlayStation Store, occasional early access to upcoming games, and the option to download console software updates automatically. Accessing PlayStation’s online multiplayer also typically requires a PS Plus subscription, with the exception of free-to-play games.

Furthermore, PS Plus entitles players to a plethora of PlayStation games for free. At no additional charge, subscribers can download games from the PS Plus Collection, a group of 20 beloved PS4 titles including God of War, Bloodborne and The Last of Us: Remastered. Additionally, subscribers receive another trio of free games each month spanning the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5 and PlayStation VR platforms. The September PS Plus selection included Overcooked: All You Can Eatfor PS5 as well as Hitman 2 and Predator: Hunting Grounds for PS4.

New subscribers will still have time to download these games if they pick up the first month on the $1.00 sale, available until Sep. 26.
