See: Edo Voss Kills Jerlamarel and Takes His Empire | CBR

WARNING: The following contains spoilers for See Season 2, Episode 3, “The Compass,” now available on Apple TV+.

In See‘s second season, Baba Voss (Jason Momoa) is quickly realizing the landscape surrounding him is getting more dangerous by the day. He’s got his evil brother, the Trivantes warlord Edo (Dave Bautista), to worry about, plus he’s concerned Queen Kane (Sylvia Hoeks) might betray his family as she seeks to consolidate power at Pennsa, her new Payan capital. However, as the series kills off one of his most sinister villains to give Baba some breathing room, it also creates its deadliest empire yet.

Edo — pissed someone in his camp helped Baba, Haniwa and Tamacti Jun escape — visits Jerlamarel at his forest base. They were in cahoots, shocking fans in Season 1, as Jerlamarel sent his sighted kids to Edo to enhance his military. Luckily, Baba’s got Haniwa back while Kofun escaped. However, he also blinded Jerlamarel to teach him how it felt to be without vision.

Edo wonders if Jerlamarel helped out, plotting a coup of his own against Trivantes. He also queries why Jerlamarel isn’t moving around much in his meeting. This is, of course, because he doesn’t want Edo to know he’s blind, as that’ll be viewed as a sign of weakness in their secret alliance. Sadly, Edo susses out as much and beheads Jerlamarel with his blade in one fell swoop. It leaves Jerlamarel’s son, Oloman, screaming and wanting to attack the savage, but Edo’s goons hold him back.

Edo, as cool and calm as ever, makes it clear Oloman needs to get over his grief because he’s now got a new boss. Edo takes over the stronghold and indicates it will be his hidden base where he’ll devise a new war strategy. He has his scientists and scholars such as Tormada immediately take control, making it clear they’ll now be using the library and armory.

This is humanity’s last bastion of tech and advanced knowledge, so they make Oloman’s siblings create new weapons as they’ve got electricity and other things Trivantes lacks. It feels like proper karma as Jerlamarel was despicable for using kids he sired as bargaining chips in the coalition and turning others into warlords, but it’s the worst thing that could happen for other regions.

After all, Edo’s hellbent on destroying kingdoms in the East and West, and even Trivantes because he thinks it lacks leadership. But first on the agenda will be Pennsa and everything Baba holds dear. It’s a win-win because, under this banner, he’ll get to bring Kane’s reign to an end and integrate her soldiers as civil war’s stirring due to her wanting sighted people such as Maghra’s kids (Haniwa and Kofun) to be viewed as Chosen Ones. Simply put, as Edo strengthens his legion — the most lethal around — his enemies are at their weakest, which has him salivating for the deaths to come in his war of attrition and, ultimately, entitlement.

The first three episodes of Season 2 of See are available on Apple TV+, with subsequent episodes available every Friday.
