Hawkeye: Vincent D’Onofrio Tells Fans to Stop Grasping at Straws

Rumors may have Vincent D’Onofrio’s Wilson Fisk returning in Hawkeye, but the actor isn’t confirming anything.

Since the first trailer for Hawkeye dropped earlier this week, fans have taken notice of D’Onofrio’s likes and tweets on Twitter in hopes of finding some sort of confirmation regarding the actor’s involvement. D’Onofrio has been rumored to return as Wilson Fisk in the series since July. However, no verification has been found as to whether D’Onofrio will actually reprise the role. Those looking for an official word may be waiting a long time, too, as the actor’s recent tweet suggests there’s nothing to look into. “Silly to look deeper into the little pieces I write,” he tweeted. “I’ve been writing them for years now. Although I appreciate the fandom. Because I loved playing him in @daredevil.”

Like with Daredevil‘s Charlie Cox, who is rumored to return for Spider-Man: No Way Home, D’Onofrio’s Wilson Fisk has been teased to return in Hawkeye in some capacity. It’s thought that D’Onofrio’s return as Fisk is to link the project to Spider-Man: No Way Home, which will hit theaters the following month. D’Onofrio has been vocal in the past about wanting a chance to play the character again, but nothing was ever set in stone.

This is perhaps why fans sought to peek through his social media in hopes of uncovering more information. Unfortunately for them, though, while D’Onofrio might have liked a bunch of tweets regarding Hawkeye and even tweeted out a poem about a dog (thought to be a reference to Hawkeye’s beloved Pizza Dog), the actor doesn’t want fans to look any deeper into his tweets for answers.

As it stands, fans won’t know for sure whether D’Onofrio reprises his role as Wilson Fisk in Hawkeye until the series debuts in November. For now, though, they can delight in knowing he misses the character just as much as they do.

Hawkeye stars Jeremy Renner and Hailee Steinfeld, with the latter making her Marvel Cinematic Universe debut as Kate Bishop. The series will see Renner’s Clint Barton acting as a mentor of sorts for Bishop as he tries to get home in time for Christmas with his family.

Hawkeye will premiere exclusively on Disney+ on Nov. 24.
