Shazam actor Zachary Levi stated he wants his version of the World’s Mightiest Mortal to fight the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s takes on Thor and Spider-Man.
During a Shazam! panel at Dragon Con, which was attended by The Direct, Zachary Levi explained why he would want to see Shazam fight Thor. Levi, of course, played Fandral in the last two Thor films — Thor: The Dark World and Thor: Ragnarok — the latter of which saw his character die.
“Split decision for me, it’s either fight Thor, cause you know we’re both like Gods of Thunder essentially; shooting electricity at each other,” Levi added. “Plus you know, I kinda made a little cameo in that whole situation. Just the irony of it would be fun. Kill me will you… alright… I’m not bitter.”
In regards to Spider-Man, Levi said in all of comic-dom, “there’s only one character that I think is similar to Billy Batson: and it’s Peter Parker.” He added, “I think Billy and Peter having a fight would be really fun… they would become friends after the fight!”
Levi’s costar D.J. Cotrona, who plays the superhero version of Billy’s foster brother Pedro Peña, added that his choice would have to be The Hulk. “I think there’s some similarity… green is a similarity… strength is a similarity.. and also ther’’s a kinda not feeling comfortable in your own skin in a lot of different ways,” Cotora continued. “Communication issues. I think they’d… it wouldn’t be a long fight. They’d be hanging out.”
Zachary Levi and D.J. Cotrona will return in Shazam! Fury of the Gods, which recently wrapped filming. The movie hits theaters on June 2, 2023.
