WarnerMedia Kids & Family announced it will kick off its new ACME Night block of programming with a new lineup of Batman and Looney Tunes movies on Cartoon Network later this month.
Named after the fictional company first introduced in the Road Runner and Wile E. Coyote cartoons, the ACME Night programming block will air regularly Sundays on Cartoon Network, starting on Sept. 19 with the hit DC Extended Universe film Shazam!
Future ACME Night blocks will feature blockbusters such as Man of Steel, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Sherlock Gnomes, Detective Pikachu and Scoob!, as well as specials that include a Harry Potter Wizarding World Competition Event Series and Gremlins: Secrets of the Mogwai. They will also include Aquaman: King of Atlantis, a three-part animated mini-series, and Batman: Caped Crusader, an all-new animated series with executive producers Bruce Timm, J.J. Abrams and Matt Reeves.
The Harry Potter limited series will commemorate the upcoming 20th anniversary of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone and will showcase some of the biggest self-proclaimed Harry Potter fans as they test their Wizarding World knowledge. It is being produced by Warner Bros. Unscripted Television in association with Warner Horizon and will include four one-hour quiz challenges set to premiere later this year.
“In the world of ACME anything is possible and everything is funny,” said Tom Ascheim, President of Warner Bros. Global Kids, Young Adults and Classics. “Families want fun ways to spend time together, which has only intensified during the pandemic. With the world’s greatest classic family stories and new originals coming, this programming block is a zone that celebrates imagination, which is what we stand for.”
A new animated Christmas special titled Did I Do That to The Holidays: A Steve Urkel Story, will also premiere during the ACME Night block, along with several new animated films from Warner Bros. Animation. These include Merry Little Batman, which will focus on a 6-year-old boy who finds himself alone in Wayne Manor and must transform into “Little Batman.” A currently untitled Looney Tunes Cartoons movie is also in the works. That project will follow the dynamic duo of Porky Pig and Daffy Duck as they become unlikely heroes in hopes of saving both their town and the world from an alien invasion.
ACME Night will kick off officially on Sept. 19 at 6 p.m. ET/PT, with ACME Night programming scheduled to start streaming on HBO Max starting next year.
