A photo recently posted online reveals Julia Louis-Dreyfus on the set of an unknown production, suggesting her involvement in either Disney+’s Hawkeye and Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.
Twitter user XRealm Bishop shared the photo, along with a detail showing the actor surrounded by green screens as she confers with a crew member on an asphalt highway. While reshoots of the upcoming Disney+ series are reputedly happening where the photo was taken, some fans have pointed out that Louis-Dreyfus’s appearance in Atlanta could mean that her character “Val” will play a role in the sequel to Black Panther.
Julia Louis-Dreyfus’s make-up artist posted this to her Instagram account a few days ago & it looks like Val might be showing up in a Marvel production. I’m leaning more towards #BlackPantherWakandaForever as that is in production right now in Atlanta and makes more sense. pic.twitter.com/MnHtr76xJV

Citing the makeup artist of the Veep star as the photo’s source, the tweet postulates that “Val might be showing up in a Marvel production” and remarks that Wakanda Forever is currently shooting in the “Hollywood of the South,” suggesting that it “makes more sense” for the photo to be from that production. No confirmation can be had from the images, however, fueling speculation in different directions.
Valentina Allegra de Fontaine made her Marvel Cinematic Universe debut in the fifth episode of The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, though it was supposedly the end-of-credits scene in Black Widow which was originally meant to have that honor. A character who dates back to the ’60s comics, “Val” Fontaine was a big part of Secret Invasion and exerts tremendous influence over S.H.I.E.L.D., having been an agent herself.
With Louis-Dreyfus expressing enthusiasm over being a part of the MCU, her portrayal of the former SHIELD agent could end up in one or both productions, and the cryptic photo could come from either one.
Hawkeye premieres Nov. 24 on Disney+. Black Panther: Wakanda Forever is scheduled for release on July 8, 2022.
