TNT Rebrands Its Twitter Page to Celebrate CM Punk’s AEW Debut

On Friday, Aug. 20, CM Punk ended his seven-year absence from professional wrestling, making his All Elite Wrestling debut at AEW Rampage: The First Dance in his hometown of Chicago. To mark the occasion, TNT has actually altered its official Twitter profile in the Second City Saint’s honor.

Currently, TNT’s display name on Twitter reads “TNT Punk.” The network also shared a photo of Punk from his AEW debut, with the caption, “Is it Wednesday yet?” Notably, during The First Dance, it was confirmed that Punk would appear on this coming Wednesday’s episode of AEW Dynamite on TNT.

AEW’s second weekly television show, Rampage premiered on TNT on Aug. 13 — one week before Punk’s historic debut. Rampage serves as a companion to AEW’s first and flagship weekly show, Dynamite, which premiered on TNT back in October of 2019. Rampage is expected to stay on TNT for the foreseeable future, while Dynamite is slated to move to TBS early next year.

During his AEW debut at Rampage: The First Dance, CM Punk confirmed his first professional wrestling match in seven years, challenging Darby Allin. Punk and Allin will face off at AEW’s All Out pay-per-view on Sept. 5 — which will also emanate from Punk’s native Chicago. Punk’s most recent televised wrestling match took place at WWE’s Royal Rumble PPV in January of 2014, when he entered first in the eponymous Royal Rumble match and lasted just under 50 minutes before being eliminated by Kane. Punk acrimoniously parted ways with WWE shortly thereafter.
