He-Man’s Latest Reboot Trailer Reactions Are Overwhelmingly Positive

Back in July, Netflix released Masters of the Universe: Revelation, a series by Kevin Smith that continues the continuity of the original 1980s Filmation animated series, only geared towards the adults that were kids when they watched the original series. Now, Netflix is doing a new Masters of the Universe series, only this time it a reboot designed for a younger audience and so far, the social media response to He-Man and the Masters of the Universe has been overwhelmingly positive.

A recurring theme in the feedback online has been that Netflix is smartly using the licensed property to appeal to older fans while also broadening the property for a younger audience, as well, sort of like having your cake and eating it two, as it were.

That’s what one reader said right out, that it is good to have shows for different generations…

Another fan explained, “Oh, those loud, annoying 40 year old men aren’t going to like this…but maybe kids will. Which is entirely the point. I think it looks like an interesting reinvention!” while another added, “I kinda like the more hi-tech spin, and that them being “Masters” seems more than just an empty catch-all title like in most previous incarnations. This is not MY ‘He-Man & the Masters of the Universe,’ and that’s pretty awesome.”

Other fans gave more general responses about how pumped they were about the new series…

Another fan noted, “Loving all the He-Man news this morning! Looks like a fun and fresh interpretation of He-Man/MOTU” and another pointed out, “Still finishing revelations but this also looks super cool!”

Other fans were a bit more guarded in their optimism, “It’s an improvement over Revelations. At least this one is called HE-MAN And The Masters of The Universe, looks like Adam and He-Man will be in it more and looks like they’ve combined The New Adventures of He-Man and the 2002 series. I’m willing to give it a chance.”

There were SOME outright negative takes on the new show out there, as well, like…

And another fan added, “Man and people complained about Revelations? This looks more like pony tail and blue jeans New Adventures of He-Man than Masters of the Universe.”

He-Man and the Masters of the Universe arrives on Netflix Sept. 16.
