Diavolo serves as the main antagonist in the 5th Season of JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure, Golden Wind. Diavolo is the boss of Passione, an Italian Mafia gang, and is intent on keeping his true identity a secret. He goes so far as to plot to kill his own daughter Trish, who is under the protection of Team Bucciarati.
After Bucciarati figures out the boss’s plan to eliminate Trish, he defects from Passione and leads his team on a mission to figure out the boss’s true identity so they can stop him. Diavolo sends his own Special Squad, a group of elite assassins with special abilities, to stop Bucciarati and his men.
6 Tiziano’s Stand Is Good For Manipulating His Enemy
Tiziano is one-half of a partnership with a fellow squad member, Squalo. Tiziano is more subdued and observant and instead of acting impulsively, he pays attention to an enemy’s behavior and then formulates a plan. Tiziano’s Stand, Talking Mouth, is physically very weak, which is why he is partnered with Squalo.
Talking Mouth is a small Stand, about the size of a human tongue, that cannot fend off direct attacks from another Stand if met with hand-to-hand combat. The main advantage of Talking Mouth is the ability to control an enemy’s words, making them say the opposite of what they mean. Singularly, this is not the best of abilities, but when combined with another Stand, like his partner Squalo’s, it can be very advantageous.
5 Squalo Can Take Advantage Of Any Liquid To Attack
Squalo is a member of Diavolo’s Special Squad who works in conjunction with his partner, Tiziano. Of the two, Squalo is the more aggressive and volatile one, which is reflected in his Stand’s, Crush’s, abilities. As Squalo’s name (shark in Italian) suggests, Crush is a mechanical shark-like Stand.
Crush is a long-distance type Stand, allowing Squalo to control it from afar. Because of its shark-like design, it can only manifest in liquid, and its size is dependent on the surface area of the liquid. It can instantaneously teleport from one liquid to another, including soup, wine, tears, etc. Its powerful jaws can rip open the flesh of its victims and even tear limbs away. However, the Stand can only be successfully deployed when liquid is around, which limits its capabilities to an extent.
4 Carne’s Stand Absorbs Energy To Survive
Carne doesn’t get much air time in the series as he is killed almost instantly by Mista when he tries to reveal his Stand. Carne’s real danger, consequently, lies in his Stand, Notorious Chase, which activates upon his death. Notorious Chase is an automatic Stand capable of surviving long after its user’s death and operating on its preprogrammed functions.
Notorious Chase feeds on and absorbs life energy, mechanical energy, and Stand energy, thereby making Stand attacks useless against him. This quality makes Notorious Chase invincible. Paired with its automatic settings, it is an extremely deadly Stand. If a person were to come into contact with Notorious Chase, it would consume and infect their flesh to absorb their energy.
Even if Notorious Chase were to be pulverized into tiny bits, as long as one bit survives, it can absorb energy, regenerate, and grow. The more energy it absorbs, the larger it gets, as seen when it takes over a large jet.
3 Cioccolata Is A Twisted Individual With A Deadly Stand
Cioccolata is the most twisted member of the Special Squad. A former surgeon, Cioccolata diagnoses otherwise healthy patients just to operate on them. Not only does he unnecessarily operate on people, but he does not give them enough anesthesia so they wake up mid-surgery. Cioccolata enjoys seeing the horror on people’s faces, having his side-kick videotape their expressions.
Even by Diavolo’s standards, Cioccolata is a despicable human being, and he is only deployed as a last resort. Not only is Cioccolata deadly himself, but his Stand, Green Tea, is one of the most deadly in the series. Green Tea emits a green fog that produces a highly infectious mold, capable of dissolving human beings and wiping out an entire city. His Stand is also a close-range type, so it does exhibit some combat ability, although that is not its strength.
Cioccolata is also very dangerous himself, as he is able to take himself apart and hide. After all his years operating on people and experimenting on himself, he has learned exactly how he can still move and function, even while in pieces.
2 Secco’s Wearable Stand Enhances His Abilities
When fans are first introduced to Secco, he seems to be almost animalistic in nature. He communicates with non-verbal sounds and seems to be obedient to his partner Cioccolata. It is not until Cioccolata dies that Secco’s true personality comes out.
Secco possesses the Stand, Sanctuary, which is a wearable Stand. Covering Secco’s entire body like a suit, Sanctuary has the ability to liquefy anything it touches. This allows Secco to travel underground and hide efficiently. If he loses contact with something, it hardens again. Secco uses this to consume something in liquid form, and spit it as hardened bullets, deflecting attacks, or attacking another individual. He has also developed the ability to pinpoint a target while he remains underground with his impeccable sense of hearing.
Being a close-range type Stand, Sanctuary can also be used in hand-to-hand combat. Sanctuary enhances Secco’s abilities, granting him enhanced speed and power. Even though his skills are boosted by Sanctuary, Secco is not invincible or immune because of his Stand’s power.
1 Doppio Shares In Diavolo’s Power
Doppio is one of the most interesting characters in Golden Wind. Although it first appears that Doppio and Diavolo might be the same character, fans later learn they are actually two separate souls that share the same body. Doppio is the more innocent and younger of the two, but he is also Diavolo’s most trusted underling.
Doppio’s greatest ability is his undying loyalty to his boss. Doppio, by nature, is rather cowardly and shows genuine fear in troubling situations. However, because of his link with Diavolo, he is able to use Emperor Crimson’s abilities. He can see into the future to predict his enemy’s movements and use Emperor Crimson’s arms, granting him powerful attacks. Without Diavolo’s power and protection, Doppio would not be much of a threat.
