The Avengers are the greatest super team in the Marvel Universe. The team boasts some of the greatest heroes on the planet and beyond and deserve their title of Earth’s Mightiest Heroes. The team has faced down the most dangerous villains around to save the world and universe many times over.
Right now, very few members of the team, past or present, actually have comics of their own and that’s a travesty. The Avengers is full of great heroes, many of which can easily helm their own solo books.
10 The Vision Is Ripe With Potential For A Solo Series
Writer Tom King and artist Gabriel Hernandez Walta’s The Vision is still one of the best Marvel comics of the last twenty years. The Vision was supposed to get another series but it fell through, which is a tragedy. With his added visibility because of the success of WandaVision, it’s a perfect time for Vision to get another solo series, especially since he’s been pretty MIA in recent years.
9 Scarlet Witch’s Solo Books Always Fail, But That Can Change
Scarlet Witch may currently be dead in the comics, but that doesn’t mean she’s going to stay that way. She’s just had a massive star turn in WandaVision and has been a very popular character ever since she turned from a villain into a hero.
Scarlet Witch has had chances with solo books before, but now’s the perfect time to give her a post-resurrection storyline. Her return will be a big deal and MCU fans will flock to comic book stores to purchase a Scarlet Witch story.
8 Hercules Can Give Marvel Some LGBT Representation Starring In His Own Book
Marvel has been getting better about LGBT representation, but there are relatively few solo books starring LGBT characters. Giving long time Avenger Hercules a solo book would go a long way towards making that better.
Hercules is a wonderful character. His boisterous lust for life sets him apart from Thor and the Greek pantheon, which has been woefully under explored by Marvel. A Hercules book would kill multiple birds with one stone and be an entertaining read to boot.
7 Blade Hasn’t Had A Solo Book In A Long Time
Blade is one of those characters who no one ever expected to join the Avengers. He has one of the highest body counts in comics and his chief enemies, vampires, aren’t exactly Avengers caliber. However, putting Blade on the team was a great idea and he fit in better than anyone could have expected.
Blade hasn’t had a solo book in a long time, but his “vampire hunter” gimmick is easy to translate to comics. With the added experience from being an Avengers, it would be easy to see him branch out from that rather simplistic premise and become a bigger part of the Marvel Universe.
6 Spectrum Has Never Had A Solo Book And That’s Terrible
Spectrum was once known as Captain Marvel and is one of the most powerful Avengers ever. For many fans, Monica Rambeau is the one and only Captain Marvel, better than Mar-Vell or Carol Danvers. Unlike those two, she actually led the Avengers. She hasn’t been a member of the team in a while, having most recently been a member of the Ultimates – but once an Avenger always an Avenger.
Spectrum’s spotlight in WandaVision and her upcoming role in Captain Marvel’s next movie means that it’s time for this fan favorite to take her rightful place in the Marvel Universe and wrest back the spotlight which was robbed from her by subsequent Captain Marvels.
5 Manifold Is One Of The Great Unsung Heroes Of The Marvel Universe
While he’s starring in S.W.O.R.D., Manifold has long deserved a bigger spotlight. Debuting in Secret Warriors, he would go on to join the Avengers but still never got as much attention as he deserved. His powers are quite interesting — he speaks to the universe and it does his bidding, allowing him to do all kinds of amazing things.
Mutants are getting books all the time nowadays and Manifold is wasted in the large ensemble of S.W.O.R.D. The character never seems to get a fair shake and putting him in his own book will give readers a chance to see what he can really do.
4 Crystal Deserves A Chance At Solo Stardom
The Inhumans have a lot of stigma attached to them, but that doesn’t mean they should be persona non grata forever. There are lots of great Inhumans out there, some of which have been Avengers. Most people don’t remember an Inhuman named Crystal, who was an Avenger that could manipulate elements. A member of the mid-90s roster, she’s always been one of the most interesting Inhumans and deserves more spotlight.
Crystal was often found outside of Attilan, helping out other heroes and giving her a solo book could see her doing more of that. Plus, bringing her back could give the Inhumans a way back as well, with the chance that Marvel will do something besides try and make them into X-Men clones like the last time.
3 War Machine Needs His Own Series
Fans were genuinely outraged when War Machine was sacrificed on the altar of Marvel’s cash-in event Civil War II. While he was eventually brought back to life, he’s mostly languished in Iron Man’s book, which isn’t a good place to be — Iron Man isn’t as popular with comic readers as he is with moviegoers. War Machine has long been a character who deserved his own book. In a lot of ways, War Machine is more interesting than Iron Man. He has a lot in common with DC’s John Stewart, but has never gotten the same respect. A solo book could go a long way to assuage that.
2 Quicksilver Should Have Had A Solo Book Years Ago
Unlike DC, Marvel’s speedsters have never played a huge part in things, except for one: Quicksilver. Joining the Avengers after a stint with the Brotherhood of Evil Mutants, Quicksilver has always been the Maximoff sibling that gets the least love, which has never been fair to the character. He’s actually way more interesting than his sister and long deserved a star turn.
There’s a lot to explore with Quicksilver and while he’s been fleshed out well in some ensembles — Peter David’s X-Factor immediately springs to mind — he really needs a solo book to explore his character and show readers why he’s so great.
1 She-Hulk Is Always Fun In Solo Books
She-Hulk has had several solo books over the years and they’ve all proved one thing: She-Hulk is amazing. John Byrne and Dan Slott’s runs showed how good she could be as a superhero having weird, madcap adventures. However, she can also get serious with the best of them and her superhero lawyer gimmick is always good.
She-Hulk’s last book tried to make her into something more like the Hulk but that completely misses what makes her so unique and great. Giving She-Hulk her own book, especially one that is more in line with older runs, would be perfect.
