The Suicide Squad’s James Gunn Isn’t Done With the DCEU’s ‘Villain-Verse’

The Suicide Squad director James Gunn says he’s got more ideas for the DC Extended Universe’s “villian-verse.”

During an interview with Entertainment Tonight, Gunn explained that a second Suicide Squad movie was possible. “Suicide Squad or even taking someone from the Suicide Squad and doing something with them individually, or a couple of them,” he said. “I have all sorts of ideas and we talk about it all the time. So, I don’t feel like I’m done with this villain-verse yet.”

There are currently no official plans for a The Suicide Squad sequel, though Gunn’s Peacemaker series is set to debut on HBO Max in January 2022. The series will see John Cena reprise his Suicide Squad role as Christopher Smith/Peacemaker. Gunn wrote all eight episodes of the series and directed five of them.

So far, the series only has only been confirmed for one season, though Gunn has said he’d like to do more. “You know, there’s not a big plan in place, but again, it’s something that I would love to do and I know that the cast would love to do,” he said in the same interview.
