Adapted from Kozue Amano’s fantasy manga, the franchise is set in the 24th century on a terraformed Mars, which is now known as Aqua. The story follows Akari, a young woman from Manhome (formerly Earth) who comes to Aqua to train as a gondolier in the city of Neo-Venezia.
Yui Makino, who sang the opening theme songs for the TV anime series, will perform the film’s opening and ending songs. The former is titled “Espero,” while the the latter is a new recording of the anime’s opening theme song, “Undine.”
Aria the Benedizione opens in Japan on December 3, 2021.
