Mass Effect 2 Kasumi Stolen Memory Walkthrough | CBR

Posing as an ad on the Citadel in Mass Effect 2master hacker and thief Kasumi Goto agreed to work with Cerberus and Shepard in exchange for a favor. Though she didn’t tell Shepard what that favor would be until they sped off together toward a high-class gathering at arms dealer Donovan Hock’s mansion, Kasumi did promise it would be a good time.

Kasumi and fellow DLC squadmate, Zaeed Massani, were not interactive in the same way the other companions in the game were, so there weren’t many opportunities to get to know them. Gaining their loyalty was still essential to ensuring their survival during the suicide mission, so completing their loyalty missions was required if the player actually wanted to keep them alive.

Mission: Donovan Hock’s Party

Arms Dealer Donovan Hock and Commander Shepard

In the shuttle, Kasumi explains that arms dealer Donovan Hock is hosting an elite party for some of the galaxy’s most notorious players, and Shepard is attending under an alias. The plan is to infiltrate Hock’s vault to retrieve the graybox of her former partner and lover, Keiji Okuda, whom Hock murdered. They will conceal their weapons and armor in a statue of Saren, which they can later access outside Hock’s vault. Kasumi is the only squadmate for this mission, so equip accordingly.

Arriving at the party, Shepard is allowed inside, but Kasumi is denied. She enters anyway, cloaking herself so she can keep in contact with Shepard as they search for Hock’s vault and try to figure out how to crack it. While moving through the party, guests can be overheard commenting on various squadmate loyalty missions that have already been completed and some even comment on whether or not Shepard is actually alive or dead. Since Hock cannot yet be spoken to, proceed through the party and out onto the terrace, where there is a datapad noting a Chief Roe on duty.

Head back inside and take the staircase down to Hock’s vault so Kasumi can determine how to hack it. They need to cut the power to the kinetic barrier, find the password and obtain both a voice and DNA sample from Donovan Hock to get inside, so head back up to the party and speak to Hock. During the conversation, if Shepard has enough morality points, they can convince Hock to give a speech, which Kasumi samples, but if not, they have to keep him talking.

After obtaining the voice sample, head over to the security office and Kasumi will hack the door. Kill the two Eclipse mercs inside, then search the room for the password. There is a wall safe with 7200 credits, a medical station and a datapad containing the password. Kasumi also obtains a sample of Chief Roe’s voice in this area. Next, you’ll need to get a DNA sample.

There are two ways into Hock’s private quarters. If Kasumi obtained Chief Roe’s voice sample, Shepard can convince the guard outside the doors that they have permission to enter, allowing Kasumi to impersonate Chief Roe to grant Shepard access. If you didn’t pick up the voice sample, though, Shepard can climb over the wall outside of the quarters on the righthand side of the balcony. There are two mercs on guard outside, and though it’s possible to sneak past them, breaking the glass on the window or firing a weapon will alert them to Shepard’s presence, resulting in a fight. Once inside the apartment, if the alarm clock is activated while scanning for DNA, it will summon two more guards that need to be taken out while exiting the apartment.

There are multiple items to scan for DNA inside the apartment, including the couch, bed, antique weapons and a datapad. Once there is enough DNA for the vault, go back out the same way and return to the party to begin searching for the kinetic barriers. Kasumi resets Shepard’s omni-tool to follow the barrier paths to the source, which is located upstairs on the left side of the building in the room with the fireplace. Once the barrier has been deactivated, head back down and rejoin Kasumi to get into the vault.

Mission: Find Keiji’s Graybox

Entering the vault, there are numerous items on display from various cultures across the galaxy. There is a distance scanner leading to Keiji’s graybox, but Shepard can take time to explore the other items in the vault, as Hock is not alerted to their presence until the graybox is retrieved. Arriving at the graybox, you’ll find a pair of M-12 Locust machine guns that Shepard and Kasumi can arm themselves with. Once you pick up the graybox, Donovan Hock appears as a holo before guards rush in to try and stop you.

Fight through the Eclipse mercs, which include Chief Roe. They use flashbang grenades and combat drones, so take cover among the vault’s display pieces and watch out for flanking as the mercs advance. Once they’ve all been taken out, grab the medi-gel before rushing through the doors the guards came in. There is a weapons locker located in this room, so take a moment to change out weapons if desired, then proceed to escape.

Mission: Escape

Move through the next door and take cover, as the battle begins immediately. There are multiple Eclipse troopers and a YMIR mech in this area that must be taken out before proceeding. Once the mech has been taken down, advance into the next battle with the mercs and eliminate them. Continue moving until Hock seals the area, then head up the stairs on the right and hack the PDA on the floor for 4200 credits before going through the door.

There are multiple mercs in this area and a parked M-080 with a mass accelerator weapon that will blast the way through to the next area. Firing the weapon will eliminate all the enemies in the area, but at the sacrifice of the nearby loot. If waiting to fire, eliminate everyone, pick up all the loot and then blast through the wall to proceed into the next area. Drop down and head right, taking cover as the next round of combat ensues. There is another YMIR mech and multiple Eclipse mercs at various levels, so take them out as quickly as possible before moving forward and collecting the Tech Damage Research Upgrade from the dead merc.

In the next area, Hock tells the mercs to keep them busy while he prepares to solve the problem on his own. Fight through the mercs and grab the loot, including salvageable parts, credits, a PDA and Palladium. Go through the doors and onto the roof for the final stage of the battle. Hock appears in a gunship to fire on Shepard and Kasumi as waves of mercs advance.

Taking out the mercs before focusing on the gunship is an essential survival strategy. With each wave of mercs destroyed, advance a little toward the ship until Kasumi is close enough to disable it by jumping onto it and sending Hock spinning out of control. Retreat to the shuttle and escape. Back on the Normandy, Kasumi gets into the graybox only to discover that Keiji protected it, even from her, and to keep herself alive, she will have to destroy his memories of their life together. Shepard can either allow Kasumi to keep the graybox or convince her to destroy it, offering to help do it if she can’t do it herself.
