10 Comics Characters With Stronger Punches Than Thanos | CBR

Thanos has become one of the most well-known villains in pop culture but even before his start turn in the MCU, he has always been one of the greatest villains in comics. A big reason for that is just how powerful he is- as an Eternal from the planet Titan, Thanos is nearly indestructible and can channel vast amounts of cosmic energy. He’s also superlatively strong, able to go head-to-head with some of the toughest beings in the universe.

However, as strong as he is, he’s not the strongest being ever and there are plenty of characters, both in Marvel and DC, who can hit harder than him.

10 Silver Surfer’s Strength Is Just One Of His Powers

Silver Surfer Anatomy

Silver Surfer is one of the most powerful beings in the Marvel Universe. This stems from the Power Cosmic and one of the many things that force enhances is his strength. Silver Surfer is one of the strongest beings in the universe and he’s proven it many times over the years, holding his own against the likes of the Hulk, Thor, and, yes, Thanos.

Silver Surfer and Thanos have battled many times over the years, with each one giving as good as they have every time. These contests have rarely had a decisive victor, with both about fifty-fifty and one of the reasons for that is Surfer’s amazing strength.

9 Thor Is Stronger Than Thanos But That Doesn’t Mean He Can Beat Him

Thor With Beard

Thor and Thanos have tangled several times over the years, with Thanos being one of the few beings that Thor can’t beat in a fight. However, that isn’t for lack of trying and it isn’t for lack of strength. As strong as Thanos is, Thor is actually stronger and has landed some gnarly punches- as well as Mjolnir blows- on the Mad Titan.

However, strength hasn’t been enough for Thor to beat Thanos. Physical strength is great and usually is enough against most people Thor fights, but it’s never helped against Thanos.

8 Red Hulk Has Proven Himself To Be One Of The Strongest Beings On The Planet

Frank Cho Red Hulk

Red Hulk was once Thaddeus “Thunderbolt” Ross, the Hulk’s most tenacious foe. Deciding to fight fire with fire, he became the Red Hulk and went on a tear through the Marvel Universe, beating the most powerful- and strongest- heroes around. He was able to enhance his strength by absorbing energy and was strong enough to hurt the Hulk.

Thanos never tangled with Red Hulk but Thanos in the comics is known for being scared of the regular Hulk, so it stands to reason that Red Hulk would be stronger than him. Plus, if the two ever fought, Red Hulk would be able to absorb his energy blasts to even up the odds.

7 Thanos Fears The Hulk

The MCU has given people the wrong impression of the Hulk and Thanos- Thanos in the comics fears few beings in the cosmos and one of them is the Hulk. There’s a good reason behind this as the Hulk is one of the most dangerous beings in the Marvel Universe– his strength is only limited by his anger, meaning it’s potentially infinite.

Even without being angry, Hulk is extremely strong and has been able to beat all kinds of foes.

6 Hyperion’s Punch Has Leveled Many Heroes

Hyperion may hail from another universe, but he’s one of the most powerful heroes ever. There have been multiple versions of Hyperion and they’re always extremely dangerous to battle. Take King Hyperion, for instance- he’s killed every hero on his Earth. A Hyperion joined the Avengers and was easily one of the most powerful members of the team.

Hyperion and Thanos have rarely clashed but if they did, Thanos would learn what many heroes have learned over the years- that Hyperion is easily one of the strongest heroes or villains of them all, no matter what universe he’s from.

5 Black Adam Is Known For Being A Bruiser

Black Adam received the power of Shazam millennia ago, helping to defend Egypt and his homeland of Kahndaq from evil. While he would lose his way when he reawakened in modern times, it doesn’t change the fact that he’s one of the strongest beings on Earth and easily stronger than Thanos. In fact, seeing the two of them in a fight would be amazing.

Black Adam has held his own against some of the most powerful heroes and villains in the DC Universe and has destroyed nearly everyone in his path. He once went on a rampage and it took just about every hero on Earth to stop him. That’s power.

4 Shazam Is On Par With Black Adam

It’s hard to say if Shazam is stronger than Black Adam. Both are empowered by the same source and have held their own against the strongest beings around, including each other. Shazam is getting the nod in this case but they’re pretty much even and that means that Shazam can hit harder than Thanos. In fact, there are few beings he doesn’t hit harder than.

Shazam isn’t all about the strength but it’s certainly helped. This is someone who can punch Superman and he can feel it, which is saying something. If Shazam were to punch Thanos, he’d not soon forget it.

3 Superman Can Hit Way Harder Than Thanos

Superman is one of the strongest superheroes of all time. While his powers have fluctuated over the years, the current Superman has proven strong enough to lift the equivalent weight of the planet Earth and has even picked up a book with infinite pages. That’s easily stronger than Thanos and if he were to unload with a full-strength punch against the Mad Titan, it’s doubtful he’d survive.

However, Superman is a master of controlling his punches- this is a guy who can punch out regular humans and then in the next second land knock out blows against all-powerful universe destroying titans.

2 Darkseid Is DC’s “Equivalent” To Thanos

There’s a question among the comic fandom about who would win in a fight- Darkseid or Thanos. The answer, of course, is Darkseid and there are lots of reasons for this- experience, the devastating power of the Omega Effect, the fact that he’s a god. However, added to that is Darkseid’s amazing strength, able to easily dispatch even the strongest foe.

Darkseid rarely feels the need to resort to fisticuffs but when he does, he packs the kind of punch that can end all but the toughest enemies. His strength is pretty much incalculable and when he punches someone, they known about it- if they survive it.

1 Superboy-Prime Throws Planets Around Like They’re Nothing

Pre-Crisis Superman is probably the most powerful superhero of all time. His power level can best be described as whatever the writers decided was needed, which sometimes meant throwing planets. While Superman would lose the amazing powers of the Silver Age, one version of him would still be that strong- Superboy-Prime.

Superboy-Prime moves planets around like they were nothing and could beat just about any hero- or group of heroes- on his own. There are few who could survive a full-strength punch from him and as hard as Thanos can hit, he has nothing on Superboy-Prime.
